Job summary

EV Group in Hillsboro, OR seeks a Process Engineer II to plan and perform engineering duties for projects of moderate complexity. You will provide onsite process support, organize demonstrations, test and optimize processes, and prepare technical reports.

The role requires a four-year engineering degree, 2–5 years of process engineering experience, strong communication, MS Office skills, and JMP familiarity. Travel up to 50% (domestic and international) is required.

Qualifications

  • Requires a four-year engineering degree. Chemical, Mechanical or Materials Science and Engineering disciplines preferred.
  • 2–5 years of process engineering experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to present to factory employees and engineers.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office; familiarity with JMP is desired.

  • Organizes and performs equipment and process demonstrations and contract services for and with customers.
  • Researches and optimizes new and existing processes.
  • Performs acceptance tests on new equipment in the field.

  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally overnight up to 50% of the time; must possess a valid passport.
  • Use EVG vehicles for business as required.

Job description

This position entails appropriately applying fundamental engineering principles and concepts. Must be able to draw solutions from both formal training and experience. Under general direction, the Process Engineer II must plan and perform engineering duties for part of a major project or for projects of moderate complexity. They may provide work direction to Technicians and less experienced Process Engineers. Work is primarily involved with the development or improvement of actual products or designs. The typical cycle includes conceptualizing, developing prototypes, testing and perfecting designs.

  • To perform this job successfully, individual must be able to perform each of the primary duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required:
  • Provides onsite process support to customers, sales and service staff.
  • Organizes and performs equipment and process demonstrations and contract services for and with customers.
  • Researches and optimizes new and existing processes.
  • Performs acceptance tests on new equipment in the field.
  • Conducts parametric screening and developmental experiments.
  • Creates technical reports.
  • Attends trade shows and technical conferences.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally overnight, as needed, up to 50% of the time. Must possess a valid passport.
  • This position requires the use of EVG hired vehicles on EVG business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver’s license and have acceptable driving privileges.
  • Other duties, as assigned.
Additional Duties and Responsibilities:
  • May include creation of previously non-existent products or modification of existing products, including product line extensions, selection and testing of materials, ingredients, or components that will be suitable for the product.
  • Responding to customer’s requests for a particular product or design.
  • Complies with EVG and customer cleanroom policies.
  • Ability to work well under minimal supervision as well as with a team.
  • Ensures OSHA compliance in lab.
Qualifications / Education / Skills and Experience:
  • Individual must have a four-year engineering degree. Chemical, Mechanical or Materials Science and Engineering degrees are preferred.
  • Applicant should have at least two (2) to five (5) years of process engineering experience.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with the ability to effectively present information to factory employees and engineers.
  • Strong computer skills including proficiency with MS Office software.
  • Familiarity with JMP is desired.
  • Preferred to have completed Kepner-Tregoe Problem Solving Decision Making training.
  • Desired experience with handling chemicals and in semiconductor processing for MEMS or IC applications.
  • Project management skills for small projects.
Physical Demands:
  • While performing duties of this job, individual is regularly required to stand, sit, reach with hand and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift/move up to 50 pounds. Visual acuity required. Individual is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls frequently and be able to reach with hand and arms above shoulder level occasionally.
  • Ability to wear proper cleanroom attire and work inside the fab/cleanroom up to 75% of the time.
