The candidate will work with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Maintenance, Automation, EHS, and Product Development to scale from pilot operations to full production, ensuring robust, compliant processes and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related technical discipline required.
• 3+ years in lithium-ion battery manufacturing, focusing on cylindrical cell winding and assembly preferred.
• Experience with equipment qualification, process validation, startup, and ramp-up preferred.
• Experience in high-volume automated manufacturing environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop, optimize, and sustain jelly roll winding processes for cylindrical Li-ion cells (18650, 21700, 46xx).
• Define and control winding parameters (web tension, speed, alignment, overlap, separator handling).
• Support cell assembly activities including electrode prep, tab welding, insulation, jelly roll insertion, sealing, electrolyte filling.
• Analyze process performance and implement improvements to increase yield and efficiency.
• Investigate and resolve manufacturing defects and process deviations.
• Collaborate with engineering and production teams to transfer processes to high-volume manufacturing.
