ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES

We are seeking an Injection Molding Process Engineer for a high-volume precision plastics manufacturer producing over one billion parts annually for multi-national customers worldwide, which would be a great opportunity for someone with experience in scientific injection molding, process optimization, and root cause analysis looking to further their career in advanced manufacturing.

  • Own and optimize scientific injection molding processes using data-driven metrics, including CPK/SPC analysis, to achieve precision cycle times and consistent part quality.
  • Troubleshoot and perform root cause analysis on molding defects, process deviations, and machine or mold performance issues across a variety of engineering-grade materials.
  • Set, calibrate, and validate parameters for injection molding machines and auxiliaries (chillers, dryers, thermolators, granulators); visually inspect equipment and coordinate maintenance as needed.
  • Lead mold setup and process equipment qualification; perform quality control tasks including critical measurements, GD&T inspection, and review of QC and action reports.
  • Identify machine, mold, and automation improvement opportunities and present capital expenditure recommendations with ROI analysis to management.
  • Train and mentor process technicians in scientific molding methodology, equipment operation, and safety protocols; lead process and mold setup teams as required.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, tooling, quality, and production teams; interface with outside suppliers and resin manufacturers as needed.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering (Plastics Engineering Technology preferred), or 5+ years of experience in automotive or medical precision injection molding with a minimum of 10 years in the injection molding industry.
  • Highly skilled in plastic injection molding process optimization using data-driven metrics (CPK, SPC); RJG MMI Certification and E-Dart hardware/software experience strongly desired.
  • Minimum 5 years working with engineering-grade materials (PA, PC, POM, PBT, LCP, or similar).
  • Proficient with precision measurement equipment: micrometers, calipers, optical comparators, bore gauges, dial gauges, pyrometers, and infrared cameras; ability to read blueprints and GD&T.
  • Strong troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and mathematical/analytical skills; ability to analyze and present CERs with ROI understanding.
  • Effective communicator across engineering, tooling, quality, and production departments, and with external suppliers and customers when required.
BONUS QUALIFICATIONS
  • RJG MMI Certification in Scientific Injection Molding (E-Dart hardware and software).
  • Experience with IATF 16949 or ISO 13485 quality systems.
  • Hands-on experience with robotics, automation, and part handling systems in a precision molding environment.
