Are you a hands-on engineer who thrives on the shop floor? We are seeking a driven Injection Molding Plastic Process Engineer to lead process development, automation setups, and continuous improvement at our Garland manufacturing facility.
In this position, you will be the primary technical authority bridging tooling approvals with full-scale production. From establishing scientific molding parameters on 1st shot samples to designing custom EOAT and programming extraction robotics, you will play a critical role in optimizing plant performance and mentoring our technician team across all shifts.
What You’ll Do
- First-Shot Sampling & Validation: Drive sampling programs for new tools, establish robust scientific molding windows, perform 1st shot buy-offs, and complete process validations (IQ/OQ/PQ).
- Robotics & Automation Setup: Build custom End-of-Arm Tooling (EOAT), program 3-axis/5-axis part-removal robots, and integrate automated cell accessories.
- Process Optimization & Scientific Molding: Develop, document, and standardize decoupled molding parameters to increase yield, trim cycle times, and minimize scrap.
- Complex Troubleshooting: Diagnose dynamic root-cause failures spanning process variables, resin behaviors, tooling issues, and auxiliary equipment.
- Corrective Action Leadership: Lead CAPA investigations (8D, 5-Why, Fishbone) for process non-conformances, ensuring systemic long-term fixes.
- Data-Driven Operations Support: Track and drive key Management By Results (MBR) measurables—including OEE, scrap rates, and throughput—while maintaining setup sheets and central monitoring systems.
- Shift Leadership & Technical Upskilling: Support and train process technicians across a rotating 3-shift schedule, participating in daily cross-over meetings to ensure seamless shift handoffs.
- Innovation & Continuous Improvement: Evaluate new molding technologies and lead lean initiatives that enhance plant safety, efficiency, and capacity.
Why Join Us?
- Competitive Compensation: $70,000 – $90,000 base salary.
- Impact & Ownership: Complete technical authority over tool buy-offs and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Professional Growth: Hands-on experience with cutting-edge manufacturing equipment, automation systems, and advanced technology upgrades.
