Job summary

Job description

Process Engineer – GAF – Newton, Kansas

GAF is a leading roofing manufacturer building a new production facility in Newton, KS. We seek a Process Engineer to lead quality and process improvement projects during the plant's construction and commissioning phases.

Essential Duties
  • Lead process design reviews, raw material and product/process qualification and capability studies.
  • Perform PPA/FMEA on major process and raw material changes.
  • Train production personnel on Statistical Process Control (SPC) and interpret SPC charting.
  • Educate plant, suppliers and customers on company quality policies, procedures, and plant change notices.
  • Conduct internal compliance audits of production tests, process specifications, plant change notices (PCN) and other in‑plant processes.
  • Coordinate plant trials with R&D and plant personnel, ensuring accurate reporting.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering.
  • 5+ years of process engineering experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a team and work under pressure.
  • Strong knowledge of engineering fundamentals and proficiency in Microsoft Office, PLC, and AutoCAD.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Computer (intermediate), Microsoft Office (intermediate), Google G‑Suite (intermediate).
  • Analytical and problem‑solving skills (intermediate).
  • Coatings application process – entry level.
  • Project management, planning and scheduling – entry to intermediate.
  • Material handling – entry to intermediate.
  • Engineering / equipment design – entry to intermediate.
  • Knowledge of safe handling and registration of materials – entry level.
Physical Demands

Stationary position; frequently move, traverse, lift, carry, push, pull, ascend, descend, balance, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, handle, grasp, feel, communicate (talk, hear), repetitive motions, coordination.

  • Base salary range: $88,006 – $121,009 (exclusive of fringe benefits and potential bonuses).
