Job summary

CyberCoders is seeking a highly motivated Process Engineer III to support the planning, design, and implementation of process systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing and food processing facilities.

The successful candidate will develop process engineering solutions for regulated environments and contribute to feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning, and startup.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Biological Engineering, Food Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, food processing, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Experience developing PFDs, P&IDs, process calculations, equipment specifications, and process design documentation.
  • Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing processes and facility operations.
  • Knowledge of process equipment, process utilities, and manufacturing support systems.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering project teams.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet project deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop process concepts, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), material balances, utility requirements, and process narratives.
  • Design and support manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and food processing facilities.
  • Perform process calculations, equipment sizing, and system evaluations.
  • Develop process equipment and system specifications for procurement and installation.
  • Participate in process technology evaluations and equipment selection activities.
  • Support process optimization, operational efficiency improvements, and capacity assessments.
  • Prepare engineering reports, studies, technical memoranda, and design documentation.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Review vendor documentation, equipment submittals, and technical proposals.
  • Assist with design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Support field investigations, troubleshooting activities, and facility assessments.

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated Process Engineer III to support the planning, design, and implementation of process systems for pharmaceutical manufacturing and food processing facilities. The successful candidate will have experience developing process engineering solutions for regulated manufacturing environments and will contribute to projects spanning feasibility studies, conceptual design, detailed engineering, construction support, commissioning, and startup.

This role requires strong technical capabilities, project execution experience, and the ability to collaborate effectively with clients, equipment vendors, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
Process Engineering
  • Develop process concepts, process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), material balances, utility requirements, and process narratives.
  • Design and support manufacturing processes for pharmaceutical, biotechnology, and food processing facilities.
  • Perform process calculations, equipment sizing, and system evaluations.
  • Develop process equipment and system specifications for procurement and installation.
  • Participate in process technology evaluations and equipment selection activities.
  • Support process optimization, operational efficiency improvements, and capacity assessments.
  • Prepare engineering reports, studies, technical memoranda, and design documentation.
Project Execution
  • Participate in all phases of project delivery, including feasibility studies, conceptual design, front-end engineering, detailed design, construction support, commissioning, and startup.
  • Coordinate with architects, engineers, designers, and project managers to ensure integrated project delivery.
  • Support development of project schedules, deliverables, budgets, and engineering work plans.
  • Review vendor documentation, equipment submittals, and technical proposals.
  • Assist with design reviews, constructability reviews, and risk assessments.
  • Support field investigations, troubleshooting activities, and facility assessments.
Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Responsibilities
  • Develop process systems supporting GMP manufacturing operations including formulation, filling, packaging, and material handling processes.
  • Support the design of clean manufacturing environments and controlled processing areas.
  • Coordinate utility requirements for manufacturing equipment and process systems.
  • Support CIP (Clean-In-Place), SIP (Steam-In-Place), purified water, WFI, clean steam, and related process utility systems.
  • Participate in process hazard analyses, risk assessments, and regulatory compliance reviews.
  • Support commissioning, qualification, validation, and startup activities.
Food Processing Responsibilities
  • Design and support process systems for food manufacturing, packaging, ingredient handling, and processing operations.
  • Develop process solutions focused on product quality, food safety, operational efficiency, and sustainability.
  • Coordinate process equipment integration with facility utilities and infrastructure.
  • Support sanitary process design principles and hygienic equipment layouts.
  • Assist with production capacity planning, process improvements, and operational troubleshooting.
Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of process engineering experience within pharmaceutical manufacturing, biotechnology, food processing, or other regulated manufacturing industries.

  • Strong understanding of industrial manufacturing processes and facility operations.
  • Knowledge of process equipment, process utilities, and manufacturing support systems.
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering project teams.

Preferred Qualifications
  • 7+ years of process engineering experience supporting Life Sciences and Food Processing projects.
  • Experience supporting pharmaceutical manufacturing facilities, biologics facilities, vaccine facilities, cell therapy facilities, or laboratory environments.
  • Experience supporting food and beverage manufacturing, packaging, and processing operations.
  • Knowledge of GMP, FDA, ISPE, USDA, FSMA, and related industry standards.
  • Experience with process utility systems, including purified water, WFI, clean steam, compressed air, and process gases.
  • Familiarity with commissioning, qualification, and validation activities.
  • Experience supporting process safety reviews, HAZOP studies, and risk assessments.
  • Experience using process simulation or engineering software tools.
  • Knowledge of sustainable manufacturing and resource-efficiency initiatives.
