Process Engineer II (relocation required)

Join to apply for the Process Engineer II (relocation required) role at Liberation Labs.

This position is based in Richmond, Indiana, with a relocation package available. Until October 2025, the role allows remote work from anywhere in the United States, after which on-site presence is required.

- Monday to Friday, with regular overtime and evening/weekend support as needed.

- Less than 10% travel required.

Liberation Labs is developing a global network of precision fermentation manufacturing facilities, starting with our launch in Richmond, IN. We aim to produce novel bioproducts at scale, making products more affordable and accessible to promote sustainability.

Our first facility is under construction, with startup anticipated in late 2025.

Role Overview: Process Engineer II at Richmond

As part of the technical team, you will provide expertise to establish and improve processes, ensure quality, and enhance plant performance. You will report to the on-site Technical Manager and collaborate with various departments to ensure operational efficiency and quality compliance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitor and analyze process data, generate reports, and identify improvement areas.
  • Maintain detailed process documentation.
  • Collaborate with quality, operations, engineering, and maintenance teams to optimize production.
  • Troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support tech transfer, scale-up, commissioning, and start-up activities.
  • Train technicians on equipment and processes.
  • Assist with plant capital projects.
  • Perform other duties as needed.
Candidate Profile
  • Must be able to work full-time at Richmond, Indiana, by October 2025.
  • Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or related field.
  • At least 4 years of experience as a Process Engineer in biotech.
  • Experience with bacterial/yeast fermentation, tangential flow filtration, evaporation, crystallization, or spray drying preferred.
  • Experience at CMOs or manufacturing sites, including tech transfer and scale-up.
  • Effective communication skills at all organizational levels.
  • Self-driven, collaborative, results-oriented, resilient, and adaptable.
