Job summary

Grnoklahomacity is seeking a Process Engineer to support operations, monitor product specifications, and lead small capital projects for refinery productivity.

You will work with engineers and operators on process optimization, data collection, and vendor coordination to drive efficient plant performance and strategic improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering required.
  • Master's degree is a plus.
  • 3+ years in oil refinery process engineering or operations.
  • Experience with capital and operating cost estimating and economic analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in unit monitoring, troubleshooting and process optimization to meet refinery goals.

  • Provide data and drawings to vendors and Project Engineering for expansion.
  • Improve monitoring using the TDC/APC control system; explore technology advances.

Job Description

Responsible for supporting the Operations Superintendent in monitoring the product specifications. Design and develop small capital projects to increase the productivity and efficiency of the refinery. Provide support for Operations in unit monitoring and optimization to achieve the refinery’s goals. Reports to the Process Engineering Supervisor.

  • Will be assigned to a specific unit(s) within the refinery with responsibility for technical support, daily monitoring and troubleshooting, process optimization, design and development of capital projects.
  • Work in a team setting with engineers and operators to maintain and troubleshoot problems as well as develop advanced applications for the process units.
  • Small projects scope of work and working directly with Drafting and other Engineers to receive appropriate design and size of the equipment needed.
  • Provide support for Process Catalysts and Chemicals bidding. Contacting vendors for information and to provide vendors with appropriate information.
  • Assist in the planning of unit shutdowns and startups. Administering plant performance test runs, provide any operational data or drawings required to vendors or maintenance as needed
  • Provide information to Project Engineering for expansion purposes. Collect Lab Data or Operations Data to handoff to Project Engineering and outside vendors
  • Working with IT resources help improve monitoring using the TDC/APC control system.
  • Research and monitor upcoming technology changes to improve future strategies within the Refinery.
Knowledge & Skills
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in oil refinery process engineering or operations.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering; Masters in Chemical Engineering is a plus.
  • Experience with capital and operating cost estimating and economic analysis.
  • Knowledge and skills with HYSYS, PRO-II, PROMAX, VBA, MATLAB.
  • Capability to set up and maintain unit monitoring spreadsheets, including mass, heat and material balances and conversion calculations.
  • Strong analytical, reasoning and problem-solving involving P&ID's and PFD's.
  • Working knowledge of flow sheet development, equipment selection and sizing, pressure relief system calculation, general hydraulic calculation, PHA, process simulations is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency with MS suite (Excel, Word) and other applications.
  • Possess a solid understanding of mechanical, machinery and towers.
  • Flexibility to adjust schedule to meet business priorities.
