Qualifications

  • Strong process engineering technical fundamentals.

Responsibilities

  • Support a 24/7 cable manufacturing environment by troubleshooting equipment and process issues, conducting trend analysis on recurring errors, and implementing corrective actions to reduce downtime and scrap.
  • Manage all phases of capital equipment projects — from financial justification and design through procurement, installation, qualification, and operator training.
  • Initiate and drive process and equipment improvements to reduce cost, increase run rates, and improve product quality using Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control (DMAIC) / Six Sigma methodology.
  • Partner with operators and team leaders to monitor process performance, support new cabling technology transfers from development, and ensure repeatability in a production environment.
  • Maintain manufacturing documentation including Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Instructions (MIs), Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules, and calibration records; mentor and support junior engineers.

Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry.This segment is classified into two main product groupings – carrier network and enterprise network. The carrier network product group consists primarily of products and solutions for optical-based communications infrastructure for services such as video, data and voice communications. The enterprise network product group consists primarily of optical-based communication networks sold to businesses, governments and individuals for their own use.

Role Purpose

Corning is seeking a Process Engineer II to support cable manufacturing operations. In this role, you will apply engineering principles to drive continuous improvement, lead capital equipment projects, and support the transfer of new cabling technologies from development into full-scale production.

Primary Day-to-Day Responsibilities

Required Qualifications

The range for this position is $84,932.00-$116,782.00 assuming full time status. Starting pay for the successful applicant is dependent on a variety of job-related factors, including but not limited to geographic location, market demands, experience, training, and education.
