Job summary

ASR Group is seeking a Process Engineer II to provide engineering services for sugar packaging and processing. You will focus on improving current operations and driving efficiency through automation, process development, and new technologies.

The role requires a BS in Chemical Engineering or related field, strong data-driven decision making, and experience with process optimization and control systems. Knowledge of GMPs and SAP is a plus, with a focus on safety and teamwork.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Chemical Engineering or related field from an accredited college
• Strong fundamentals: data-based decision making, process optimization, Lean Six Sigma
• Experience with unit operations, process measurement and control systems
• Troubleshooting hardware and processes
• Ability to manage multiple projects with deadlines and lead teams
• MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Visio; SAP an advantage
• GMPs, HACCP, SQF; safety standards and regulations
• Ability to learn the sugar processing operations

Responsibilities

• Develop methods to improve existing processes through automation, process developments, and new technologies
• Work with Control Engineers to optimize process controls and quality
• Assist process supervisors to troubleshoot issues in the process
• Improve energy efficiency of the process and refinery
• Manage process projects and tasks as directed by the process manager

OVERVIEW

The Process Engineer II provides engineering services for sugar packaging and processing. Focusing on improving current operations and facilitate the growth process efficiency by developing & executing process improvement.

DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Responsible for developing methods of improving the existing process through automation, process developments and new technologies.
• Works with Control Engineers to optimize Process Controls to fine tune process control points to achieve efficiencies and improved quality.
• Assist process superintendents and supervisors as needed to troubleshoot issues in the process.
• Strives to constantly improve the energy efficiency of the process and the refinery.
• Manages process projects and tasks as assigned by the process manager.
• Works within all safety, environmental, food safety and food security procedures.
• Performs lab testing to support improvements.

WORK EXPERIENCES

• Five years of Chemical/Process Engineering experience desired; prior knowledge in Food industry or Consumer Product Goods is preferred
• Previous work experience developing or assisting in the development of new processes/procedures
• Prior involvement with supporting multiple capital projects
• Experience supervising employees or leading a project including employees in a unionized work environment is a plus

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

B.S. degree (or higher) in Engineering (Chemical preferred) or related field from an accredited college/university

Strong engineering fundamentals with proven abilities and practical experience in the following areas:

• Data-based decision making using data from different sources
• Process optimization
• Lean Six Sigma for triggered events and proactive improvements
• Unit operations, understanding and continuous improvements
• Process measurement and control systems
• Maintenance techniques and systems for reliable operation
• Troubleshooting hardware and processes
• Managing multiple projects, tasks and deadlines
• Organizational skills, attention to detail and follow through on agreed actions
• Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio. Wonderware, SAP an advantage
• Food manufacturing, GMPs, HACCP, SQF. Safety standards and regulations
• Ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization
• Must be able to perform lab testing to support improvements.
• Ability to learn the process associated with processing sugar cane

SALARY RANGES

• $81,500.00 to $151,500.00 USD
