Job description
What You’ll Do
  • Adapt and promote Lean Manufacturing principles
  • Active participant in the Elimination of Waste Team meetings
  • Support the Company’s Goals and Objectives
  • Prepare and assess weldments and provide technical reporting for research, development and root cause analysis for preventative maintenance to avoid weld failures
  • Support Project Management on new programs during the APQP process and participate in APQP activities including but not limited to: design development, failure mode and effects analysis, manufacturing feasibility studies, line and floor layout, resource allocation, capacity studies, production trial runs
  • Establish and maintain process parameters and ensure adherence to customer specifications including sectioning, polishing and microscopic metallurgical analysis
  • Provide support by leading and participating in problem solving activities, including troubleshooting machines for the permanent resolution of manufacturing issues (Global 8-D process)
  • Work on the plant floor with operators, machines and fixtures to improve manufacturing processes in areas of safety, quality, productivity, throughput, quick change, and ergonomics
  • Support quoting process / welding feasibility and cost calculations
  • Internal drawing control following revision and change notice process
  • Support machine selection in the APQP process
  • Support supplier / vendor assessment and approval
  • Educate operators and support personnel in process flow, preventative maintenance and troubleshooting activities
  • Initiate, coordinate, and verify design changes to part prints, or changes to work instructions, PFMEA’s and the process flow diagrams
  • Make recommendations, plans and suggestions that promote Continuous Improvement and Lean Manufacturing throughout the organization
  • Champion of all welding joining and developments that may affect future opportunities
  • Possess working knowledge of IATF16949, ISO 14001, and Q1 Compliance criteria
  • Compliance participation in IATF16949 Quality Procedures and Work Instructions
What You’ll Need to Succeed
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Weld Engineering and / or minimum 5 years of work experience related field
  • Knowledgeable of arc welding, laser welding, and robotic applications
  • Mechanical tooling assembly design ability
  • Developing effective working relationships with customers and the ability to communicate information with confidence
  • Understanding of stamping and assembly manufacturing processes and systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
