Job summary

TOKYO ELECTRON AMERICA, INC. invites a Fall 2027 Co-Op in Albany, NY. You will engage in meaningful project work across semiconductor manufacturing, applying Lean principles to improve processes and documenting outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing undergraduate or graduate degree in Nanoscience or Engineering; Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical engineering; Materials Science, Chemistry, Physics, or related fields
  • Experience with Statistical Design and Analysis of Experiment methods
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be fluent in English
  • Must be able to work in teams as well as individually
  • Experience working safely in a laboratory environment with hazardous chemicals
  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and diverse team
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship

Responsibilities

  • Develop new or modified processes and methods applied in manufacturing, fabrication, and evaluation of semiconductors
  • Work with group engineers to propose criteria and formats for hardware and process evaluations
  • Compile, analyze and present experimental data to colleagues
  • Create and revise standard operating procedures and document tasks for future reference
  • Compile and analyze test data to determine appropriate limits and variables for process or material specifications
  • Assist in interpretation of physical and chemical behaviors as part of process characterization
  • Become familiar with semiconductor processing techniques through literature and hands-on learning
  • Prepare and present a final project report
  • Complete safety training to allow supervised work in the TEL process lab

Education

Undergraduate or graduate degree in Nanoscience or Engineering
Chemistry/Materials Science background
Excellent verbal and written communication

Fall 2027 Co‑Op. Duration: Monday, May 17th – December 17th, 2027. Location: Albany, NY.

Job Description

Meaningful Project Work: Every Intern is assigned a project that delivers value to the business. Lean Thinking: Interns are expected to apply Lean principles and continuous improvement thinking throughout their project work; Lean training and resources will be provided. Our Goal is to provide interns with meaningful, hands‑on experiences that contribute to business objectives while supporting their professional development.

Responsibilities

Physical Requirements
  • Job duties may be performed in confined areas in a clean room environment, in awkward positions and/or in high places
  • Mechanical aptitude, manual dexterity and ability to lift/carry objects up to 35 pounds may be required
  • May require bending/stooping/crawling/climbing
  • May require the use of Personal Protection equipment and proper industry safety procedures when working with one or more dangerous element or conditions such as chemicals, electric currents or high voltage, moving mechanical parts, radiation, etc.
  • Occasional overnight travel to TEL factory, training facilities and customer locations may be required

Salary Ranges $30.35 – $40.60. Individual pay is determined based on multiple factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skills, job‑related knowledge, relevant education, certifications, and/or training.
