Job summary

CRB is seeking an Entry-Level Process Engineer in Rockville, MD to design manufacturing facilities and support facility infrastructure and utilities as part of a collaborative team.

The role involves performing engineering calculations, assisting with documentation, and coordinating with other disciplines to ensure high-quality, constructible designs. Strong communication and programming skills are desirable.

Qualifications

  • ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in mechanical, chemical or bioprocess engineering.
  • 0 to 3 years of experience in a related manufacturing or design firm.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support the documentation of the process design scope in coordination with other disciplines.
  • Work closely with architects, engineers and designers to ensure a coordinated, constructible and complete design.
  • Self-checks own work but communicates often with peers and supervisor.
  • Able to work on one or more projects concurrently and manage time effectively.
  • Solves complex problems under the direction and supervision of a mentor or supervisor.
  • Produce engineering deliverables including block and process flow diagrams, user requirements specifications, equipment lists, equipment general arrangements, equipment datasheets, utility summary, and P&IDs.

Job Description

TheEntry-Level Process Engineerfocuses on the design of manufacturing facilityandequipment, supportingfacility infrastructure and critical utility systemsas a part of a highly interactive team. Typical tasks includetheexecution of engineering calculations includingmaterial and energy balances,heattransfer, pressure drop calculationsaswell as process optimization. TheEntry-Level Process Engineeris responsible for supporting the documentation of the process design scope in coordination with other disciplines. TheEntry-Level Process Engineermay support field installation teams and execute construction site observations. This role is expected to work closely with other architects,engineersand designers, as well as other internal and external team members to ensure ahigh quality,coordinated, constructible and complete design.

    • Equipment Datasheets
    • Utility Summary
    • Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams(P&IDs)
Qualifications
  • ABET-accreditedBachelor’sdegree in mechanical, chemical or bioprocess engineering
  • 0 to 3 years of experiencein a related manufacturing ordesign firm
  • Fundamentalsof Engineeringexam registration or completionpreferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Strongverbal and writtencommunication skills
Preferred Qualifications

Fundamental experience with performing engineering calculations, developing and implementingsystems designs

Fundamental experience with chemistry/biochemistry

Fundamental experience with process modeling, material and energy balances and basic sizing calculations

Fundamental experience with fluid mechanics, hydraulic modeling andheat transfer

Ability to participate in internal cross-discipline project team coordination

Proficient at fundamental discipline design calculations under the supervision of an engineerrequired

Proficiency inProgramming
