Job summary

Great Dane is seeking a Process Engineer to lead development and maintenance of manufacturing processes on the shop floor. You will collaborate with Corporate Manufacturing Engineering to implement new processes for product designs and equipment, while authoring work instructions and maintaining MES data.

The role requires hands-on problem solving, data-driven decision making, and training of operators. Travel ~10% may be involved in supporting improvements across plants.

Qualifications

• Education: Industrial/ Manufacturing/ Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Experience: 3-5 years preferred.
• Familiarization with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Knowledge of PFMEA and Control Plans.
• Ability to read 2D drawings and 3D models.
• Drafting work instructions.
• Experience with 2D drafting and 3D modelling tools (AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks, CATIA).
• Strong communication and organizational skills; able to work with operators.
• Familiarization with line balancing, work measurement, and cost justification.

Responsibilities

• Directly work with operators on the shop floor to solve tactical day-to-day improvement projects.
• Assist Corporate Manufacturing Engineering and Senior Process Engineers with larger projects as required.
• Author and maintain work instructions for the shop floor.
• Maintain MES system data in plants where applicable.
• Maintain PFMEAs under supervision of Senior Process Engineer and assist Quality in maintenance of Control Plan.
• Participate in Root Cause - Corrective Action exercises for defects.
• Serve as a technical liaison between Production Engineering and Operations.
• Assist in manufacturability studies with Production Engineering and Corporate Core Engineering.
• Purchase of hand tools and small equipment in support of improvement projects.
• Design of shop aids and small tooling in support of improvement projects.
• Own the process and collaborate on pilots and trials for new product designs.
• Train operators on new processes and process changes.
• Guide training with Operations Supervisors for new and recurring training.
• Other duties as assigned.
