QUANTA MANUFACTURING NASHVILLE is seeking a Process Engineer to own end-to-end manufacturing processes within the CCBU operation. The role focuses on developing processes, selecting equipment, and implementing improvements to achieve best-in-class production efficiency.

The successful candidate will lead process control, support service/repair areas, and drive cost reductions through systematic improvements, design of experiments, and automation concepts.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or related engineering field and 2 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Proficiency with Windows OS, MS Excel and AutoCAD or related software.

Responsibilities

  • Lead end-to-end process improvements for CCBU operations.
  • Develop processes and select equipment to enable best-in-class manufacturing.
  • Identify, procure and qualify equipment for production.
  • Improve product quality, output, cycle time and equipment downtime.

PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Process Engineer will be responsi ble for end to end processes related to CCBU operation . The P rocess Engineer will develop processes and identify the equipment required to establish best in class manufacturing operation in parallel with defining routings, physical and systemic process flows . The Engineer will be responsible for the identification, evaluation, selection , procurement, and qualification of equipment utilized in the CCBU Operation .

Develop and implement process improvements to improve product and process quality, output, cycle time, productivity and equipment downtime . Support new product introduction and processes into production. Develop the process for the introduction of new products and changes to operations . Resolve daily production issues with short and long-term solutions . Identify and implement new methods or equipment aimed at improvements in yields, turnaround time, reliability and costs.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Leads physical and systemic process i mprovement projects including the direction of project teams to support continuous process improvements. Includes but not limited to Six Sigma, Lean Ma nufacturing implementation, DOE .

Responsible for process control and support for service and repair area

Responsible for evaluating current process and working to develop and implement process improvements on an on-going basis to ensure optimal efficiency and quality.

Validate and test process effectiveness and improvements through the use of normal engineering techniques, design of experiments, data analysis and statistical analysis.

Provide leadership in customer quality and efficiency efforts by working with support teams to improve cycle times and reduce defects.

Develop proven flows and operator work instruction s .

Perform C ost Analysis & provide Cost Improvement ideas for the production & service areas.

Ability to perform Time Studies across all areas.

Train appropriate personnel in all aspects of the facility; as it pertains to processes, procedures and instructions.

Continuous Improvement – drive quality improvement, productivity improvement, scrap reduction, and other cost reduction efforts, through process improvement initiatives.

Problem solving – investigate and recommend solutions for production , service and product related quality, manufacturing or process issues.

U tilizes technology to im prove, streamline and automate m anufacturing process

Plan, implement, set up and monitor equipment used to automate manufacturing process .

Develop and design automation concepts , choosing and programming a controller and ensuring the proper communication between the actuators connected to the controller. simulating, installing, testing and managing electrical or mechanical automation and finally monitoring the automation processes on an ongoing basis.

Develop measures of process control

Develop and implement Preventive Maintenance procedures

Identify process capabilities and limitations and make Recommendations and implement process improvements.

Investigate and quantify the manufacturability and serviceability of new and existing products.

Work with product development engineers during and after product introduction to improve product performance.

Troubleshoot and solve various manufacturing and service problems .

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or related engineering field and 2 years of manufacturing, process or industrial engineering experience with automated assembling equipment or an equivalent combination of education and experience .

PC skills including Windows, MS Work, MS Excel, MS access, AutoCAD or related software.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

Must possess strong leadership skills and able to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing with all levels of management and employees.

Must be a team player that can work efficiently under minimal supervision.

Ability to function and execute in a dynamic, fast-paced environment

Small component electro/mechanical m anufacturing experience is a plus.

Occasional travel, sometimes to Asia is required .

Knowledge of development and improvement of work processes related to electro-mechanical assemblies is a plus

Knowledge of design and implementation of engineering experiments .

Creative problem-solving ability and Strong communication skills.

Self-starter with the ability to work in a team environment.

Able to sit at desk and use/view computer for prolonged periods of time, up to 8 hours daily.

Able to speak into and use a telephone for prolonged periods, up to 8 hours daily.

Able to operate a pallet jack and/or forklift.
