Actalent is hiring a Process Engineer for on-site work in Wilmington, MA. The role focuses on taking automated/semi-automated production lines from install to dialed-in operation, driving yield, quality, and throughput while meeting specifications.

The ideal candidate has 8+ years in process/manufacturing engineering in production, plus a BS in an engineering field, and strong DOE/SPC/MSA skills with DMAIC and 8D problem solving. This is a 6-month contract with potential extension.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in process or manufacturing engineering in a production environment.
• BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• Proven process development and dial-in taking a line from first builds to qualified, in-spec production.
• Experience on automated or semi-automated lines.
• Strong command of DOE, SPC, MSA, and process-capability analysis.
• Hands-on PFMEA and control plans, and structured problem-solving (DMAIC, 5-Why, Fishbone, 8D).
• Proven yield, quality, and cycle-time improvement on live production.
• Able to operate independently on-site.
• Hands-on factory floor experience.

Overview

Our client is landing a set of automated and semi-automated production lines, built with automation integrators, into their facility. They are hiring a Process Engineer to take these lines from installed to dialed-in running process development on the line, validating output against spec, and driving yield, quality, and throughput as they ramp. You own what the lines produce.

Responsibilities

• Owns the manufacturing process and assembly process.
• Determines whether an issue is caused by the process or the equipment.
• Troubleshoots process issues using HMI fault logs and production data.
• Focuses on yield, quality, throughput, and process stability.
• Develops, improves, and sustains manufacturing processes on automated and semi-automated production lines.

MUST HAVES

• 8+ years in process or manufacturing engineering in a production environment.
• BS in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial, Chemical Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent hands-on experience).
• Proven process development and dial-in taking a line from first builds to qualified, in-spec production.
• Process development experience on automated or semi-automated lines comfortable developing a process around automated equipment, not just manual stations.
• Strong command of DOE, SPC, Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), and process-capability analysis.
• Hands-on with PFMEA and control plans, and structured problem-solving (DMAIC, 5-Why, Fishbone, 8D).
• Proven yield, quality, and cycle-time improvement on live production.
• Able to operate independently on-site.
• Hands-on factory floor experience.

NICE TO HAVES

• Experience from Automotive, Aerospace, High-volume manufacturing environments
• Lean / Six Sigma Black Belt.
• Advanced DOE and statistical-analysis depth (JMP / Minitab) able to design and interpret complex experiments, not just run standard tools.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract position based out of Wilmington, MA.

Pay And Benefits

The pay range for this position is $100.00 - $120.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
