Job description

The Field Service Expert is responsible for start-up, commissioning, and optimization of Voith supplied paper machines. This position also involves reviewing and auditing existing paper machine systems such as headboxes, forming, pressing, etc., for capacity, quality, or yield bottlenecks. A good knowledge of the design, operation, and maintenance of paper machine equipment is required.

Responsibilities:

1. Troubleshoot and optimize paper machine equipment or rebuilds.
2. Commission, start-up, and optimize paper machines and stock prep rebuilds and new lines.
3. Develop and maintain start-up and commissioning checklists for projects.
4. Identify improvements and resolve problems using Voith's papermaking machinery.
5. Support and promote Voith parts and repair services.
6. Make technical presentations and provide training to customers.
7. Provide engineering support, troubleshoot, lead projects, and participate in technological discussions.
8. Ensure a safe work environment and promote safety awareness.
9. Document communication, interactions, and correspondence with customers and employees.
10. Supervise contractors or millwrights as needed.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements:

1. At least 5 years of experience in the papermaking industry or related roles.
2. Ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
3. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
4. Proactive with results-oriented approach.
5. Willingness to travel up to 60%, including international travel mainly to Canada and Mexico.
6. Strong mechanical and process aptitude.
7. Ability to interpret technical drawings and P&ID diagrams.
8. Experience with remote support via video and phone tools.
9. Proficient in Windows programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
10. Basic SAP skills (training provided).

Physical Requirements:

Regular walking, standing, manual handling, occasional sitting, stooping, kneeling, crouching or crawling. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds. Use of PPE required in designated areas.
