Responsibilities

  • Gather detailed information on vendor supplied components.
  • Generate lists and schedules for equipment, instruments, and other components for estimates, selection review, submittal for purchasing and other uses.
  • Execute project tasks under direction of more experienced engineers.
  • Perform calculations with established tools and methods for heat and mass transfer and fluid mechanics along with other necessary calculations.
  • Create and maintain Process Flow Diagrams and Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&ID's) based on information supplied by experienced engineers.
  • Generate text for proposals, specifications, narratives, and other documentation based on templates and other guidance.
  • Check and review documents for grammar and clerical mistakes.
  • Capture meeting minutes and other notes from customer interaction to document needs of customer and changes during project.
  • Write out requests for information based on direction from others.
  • Read and interpret applicable production and fabrication codes and regulations (e.g., ASME BPE, 3-A SSI, IPC, IBC, OSHA, FDA).
  • Actively participate in RCI to drive improvements for Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost, in support of company goals/objectives and to exceed customers' expectations.
  • Properly track costs, including personal time and spend, to keep budgets and notify proper resources of expanded costs.
  • Document sources and history of design development throughout project.
  • Performs other duties as assigned by Process Leads and manager.
  • Assist in FAT (Factory Acceptance Testing) preparation and execution.
  • Assist in SAT (Site Acceptance Testing) preparation and execution.
  • Assist in shop and installation support work as needed. Either in office or on site.
  • Travel requirement up to 15%.

Position Summary

Entry-level engineer with opportunities for career growth in Process Engineering, Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) Engineering, or Applications Engineering. The primary responsibility of this position is to perform I&C engineering activities related to the selection, specification, and documentation of field instrumentation and control devices, including valves, sensors, analyzers, transmitters, and other process equipment.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include preparing instrument data, reviewing vendor documentation, developing material lists, and ensuring compliance with project requirements, codes, and standards. This role does not include control panel design, PLC programming, HMI development, or control system configuration.

Secondary responsibilities include supporting lead Process Engineers on projects and proposals. Under the guidance of experienced engineers, assists with process calculations, equipment sizing, process documentation, and engineering deliverables. Develops the ability to interpret applicable codes, standards, and customer specifications and applies engineering principles, calculations, and software tools to project work with increasing independence.

Including ASME BPE (Bioprocessing Equipment), 3-A SSI (3-A Sanitary Standards, Inc), ASME B31.1 Power Piping, ASME B31.3 Process Piping, IMC (International Mechanical Code), IPC (International Plumbing Code), IBC, (International Building Code), OSHA, cGMP (Food, Fish, Animal Feed, Drug, and Dietary Supplement), FDA and USDA Guidelines.

Education & Experience
  • ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in chemical, mechanical, or bioprocess engineering or equivalent preferred. 0-3 years of experience, preferably in equipment and/or system design for food or pharmaceutical industries.
Responsibility And Error Prevention
  • Majority of work should be under guidance of experienced coworkers. Mistakes would likely be connected to lack of experience.
  • Oversight and reviews will be used to minimize impact of errors, but attention to details and self-checking is expected.
