Job summary

BENTELER Steel/Tube division is seeking a Professional Process Engineer to optimize finishing lines and implement engineered improvements. You will troubleshoot complex issues, train maintenance and production staff, and contribute to problem-solving across processes.

The role emphasizes Lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement, with opportunity to lead root-cause analyses and drive data-driven decisions.

Qualifications

  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or similar field.
  • 3–5 years of technical work experience.
  • Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong safety awareness and ability to drive results through people, technology, and processes.
  • Experience with statistical data evaluation (SAS, SPSS) is a plus.
  • SAP knowledge not required but preferred.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills and communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Optimize equipment and investigate and implement engineered improvements.
  • Troubleshoot and eliminate design, process, and production quality issues.
  • Assist in training production and maintenance staff on Finishing Lines and Quench & Temper.
  • Help develop procedures with production staff for Finishing Lines and Quench & Temper.
  • Collaborate with other Process Engineers on special projects and plant improvements.
  • Contribute to work procedures, PMs, and LOTO implementations.
  • Participate in down days, outages, and Lean manufacturing activities.
  • Lead or assist root-cause analysis to address quality and productivity issues.
  • Perform statistical process and product data analysis to identify inconsistencies and corrective actions.
  • Provide input for Technological Product Calculation improvements.

Core Responsibilities
  • Responsible for optimizing equipment and investigating and implementing new engineered improvements.
  • Responsible for troubleshooting, advising, and eliminating all design, process, and production quality issues.
  • Assist in the training of production and maintenance employees concerning the Finishing Lines and Quench & Temper.
  • Assist in the procedure development with production employees concerning the Finishing Lines and Quench & Temper.
  • Assist other Process Engineers as required on special projects.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of work procedures, PM’s and LOTO.
  • Participate in down days, outages, and special projects.
  • Participate in plant 5S and Lean manufacturing programs as well as all continuous improvement activities.
  • Participate in "Root Cause Analysis" meetings to determine and rectify problematic issues in the process.
  • Participate in safety activities to meet or exceed organizational goals and expectations.
  • Lead or assist in root cause analysis on issues related to quality and productivity.
  • Perform statistical process and product data analysis to identify process inconsistencies and develop countermeasures.
  • Provide input for improvement of the Technological Product Calculation.
  • Respond to inquiries from the sales department in terms of producibility of a certain product property.
Job Requirements
  • BS in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or like area – or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3- 5 years prior technical work experience.
  • Excellent understanding of the Finishing processes.
  • Detail oriented with proven analytical, problem identification and resolution skills.
  • Strong safety awareness and experience.
  • Demonstrated capability of results through people, technology, and process.
  • Seamless Pipe Mill Experience a huge plus.
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office).
  • Experience in statistical mass data evaluation (e.g. SAS, SPSS).
  • SAP & general computer knowledge not required but preferred.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and explain complex data in a clear manner.
