Job summary

Black & Decker (U.S.) Inc. in Shelbyville, KY is seeking a Process Engineer to troubleshoot process issues, lead cost, quality, service, throughput and yield improvements, and support equipment upgrades.

You will install and modify equipment, drive new processes, read drawings, support product launches, and work with cross‑functional teams on trials and data‑driven improvements, applying Lean, Kaizen and ISO 9001:2015 standards and traveling occasionally (<10%).

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required.
• 3+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering.
• Automation experience with robots/vision systems/packaging.
• Familiar with Kaizen, Lean Manufacturing and TPS.
• Familiar with ISO 9001:2015 or similar.
• Willing to travel occasionally (<10%).
• Ability to read technical drawings and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot process issues and act as a technical resource.
• Identify and lead initiatives to improve cost, quality, service, throughput and yield.
• Support and implement process safety and risk assessments.
• Evaluate capital needs and support equipment upgrades/modifications.
• Lead new equipment installations and procedure implementations.
• Collaborate with suppliers, customers, and R&D; document findings and communicate clear recommendations.
• Plan and execute process trials and data‑driven improvement projects.

The Job:

• Serve as a technical resource for troubleshooting and resolving process issues
• Identify and lead initiatives to improve cost, quality, service, throughput, and yield within assigned areas
• Support and implement improvements related to process safety and operational risk assessments
• Evaluate capital planning needs and support equipment upgrades, modifications, and technology investments
• Lead new equipment Installations and existing equipment modifications
• Implement new equipment processes and procedures
• Liaison with suppliers, customers, and research & development staff
• Create drawings for tooling modification and gage design
• Support new product launches
• Partner with cross-functional teams to plan and execute process trials, experiments, and data-driven improvement projects
• Document technical findings, communicate recommendations clearly, and contribute to effective team decision‑making
• Troubleshoot robotics
• Execute other duties as assigned

The Person:

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering
• 3+ years’ experience in Manufacturing Engineering function
• Automation experience (robots, vision systems, packaging, etc.)
• Kaizen, Continuous Improvement, TPS, Lean Manufacturing Methods
• Familiar with Quality Management Systems, ISO9001.2015 or similar
• Willing to travel occasionally (<10%)
• Can read and understand technical drawings and schematics

The Details:

The Salary range for this position is $72,000.00 - $115,900.00. This is the lowest to highest annual full-time salary range we would pay for this role at the time of this posting. The salary offered within the range may vary depending on multiple factors including job level, geographic location, job-related knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience and in compliance with local wage requirements. Please note that salary is only one component of total rewards at Stanley Black & Decker. The salary range listed in this job posting reflects the range for the primary location specified. The salary range may vary for other locations. The successful candidate may be eligible for annual merit increases.
