Job summary

MW Components, Inc. seeks a process engineer to develop and refine manufacturing processes, analyze data for trends, and drive improvements across safety, quality, delivery, and cost objectives.

You will troubleshoot floor issues, lead cost-reduction projects, and collaborate with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering to ensure processes meet specifications. The role emphasizes on-floor involvement, root-cause analysis, documentation of best practices, and support for PFMEAs, control

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial preferred.
  • 3–5 years of process/manufacturing engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • Experience in metalworking, machining, CNC, screw machine operations or precision manufacturing preferred.
  • Experience with process improvement, troubleshooting, root-cause analysis, scrap reduction, cycle-time improvement.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, process capability, and SPC.
  • Familiarity with PFMEAs, Control Plans, process flows, and work instructions.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma or similar continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and improve manufacturing processes to meet safety, quality, delivery, and cost goals.
  • Analyze production data to identify trends, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot issues on the production floor and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead projects to reduce scrap, rework, downtime, cycle time, and costs.
  • Identify improvements in equipment, tooling, process parameters, and flow.
  • Monitor scrap, downtime, throughput, cycle time, and process capability.
  • Perform root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Create and maintain standardized processes, parameters, work instructions, and docs.
  • Support PFMEAs, Control Plans, process flows, validations, and trial runs.
  • Apply Lean and continuous improvement to eliminate waste and boost efficiency.
  • Collaborate with Production and Quality to ensure specs and customer requirements are met.
  • Work with machine operators, maintenance, quality, and engineering to resolve challenges.
  • Provide technical guidance and training on process requirements and changes.
  • Support new product introductions, equipment installations, and process changes.

What You'll Do
  • Develop, evaluate, and continuously improve manufacturing processes to support safety, quality, delivery, output, and cost objectives.
  • Analyze production and process data to identify trends, variation, bottlenecks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Troubleshoot manufacturing and process issues directly on the production floor and implement sustainable corrective actions.
  • Lead and support projects focused on reducing scrap, rework, downtime, cycle time, and manufacturing costs.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment, tooling, process parameters, work methods, and manufacturing flow.
  • Monitor manufacturing metrics such as scrap, downtime, throughput, cycle time, and process capability.
  • Perform root cause analysis and support corrective and preventive actions.
  • Develop and maintain standardized processes, process parameters, work instructions, and manufacturing documentation.
  • Support PFMEAs, Control Plans, process flows, process capability studies, validations, and trial runs.
  • Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to eliminate waste and improve efficiency.
  • Partner with Production and Quality to ensure processes consistently meet specifications and customer requirements.
  • Work directly with machine operators, supervisors, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering to resolve manufacturing challenges.
  • Provide technical guidance and training to production employees on process requirements and changes.
  • Support new product introductions, equipment installations, process changes, equipment upgrades, and production start-ups.
  • Ensure process improvements and changes are properly tested, documented, communicated, and sustained.
What We're Looking For
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.
  • 3-5 years of process engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related engineering experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Experience in metalworking, machining, CNC machining, screw machine operations, or precision manufacturing strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience with process improvement, manufacturing troubleshooting, root cause analysis, scrap reduction, and cycle-time improvement.
  • Knowledge of statistical methods, process capability, and Statistical Process Control (SPC).
  • Familiarity with PFMEAs, Control Plans, process flows, and work instructions.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, SPC, or other continuous improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to effectively analyze manufacturing and production data and translate findings into practical improvements.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering.
  • Ability and willingness to spend significant time on the production floor.
