Responsibilities

  • Develop, optimize, and document manufacturing processes for PCB and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Provide real-time troubleshooting to minimize downtime and boost productivity.
  • Review schematics, blueprints, and specs for modifications and approvals.
  • Design or specify fixtures and tooling to streamline assembly workflows.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and collaborate with Quality on inspections and rework.
  • Support NPI, equipment validation, and cross-functional project tracking.

The Process Engineer works under the direction of the Director of Engineering to support the design, development, and execution of manufacturing processes. This role is responsible for preparing engineering calculations and plans, supporting New Product Introduction (NPI), evaluating PCB data and electro-mechanical assemblies, troubleshooting floor issues in real time, and tracking project schedules and deliverables to maintain consistent production flow.

Process Development & Manufacturing Support

Develop, optimize, and document manufacturing processes, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and work instructions for PCB and electro-mechanical assemblies.

Provide real-time technical troubleshooting during manufacturing operations to minimize downtime and improve productivity.

Analyze PCB layout data and panelization to ensure design and process compliance.

Review blueprints, schematics, specification sheets, and technical diagrams for modifications and engineering approval.

Design, specify, and/or fabricate custom fixtures and tooling to streamline assembly workflows.

Continuous Improvement & Quality Control

Conduct root cause analysis on assembly and component failures, identify corrective actions, and implement preventive measures.

Collaborate with Quality teams on inspections, repairs, and rework processes in accordance with industry standards.

Provide guidance and technical support to inspection and assembly personnel.

Partner with the maintenance department to formulate equipment preventive maintenance plans.

NPI & Equipment Validation

Participate in technical and design reviews for existing product lines and New Product Introduction (NPI).

Provide design-for-manufacturability (DFM) feedback and technical recommendations to customers.

Assist in the technical evaluation, procurement, and qualification of new manufacturing equipment, authoring and executing product/process validations.

Project Tracking & Cross-Functional Collaboration

Act as an engineering liaison between production supervisors, cross-functional staff, and senior leadership.

Establish project deliverable timelines, monitor milestones and budgets against expectations, and report variances or delays.

Prepare and deliver technical reports, project documentation, and updates to internal stakeholders and customers.

Qualifications & Requirements
Education:

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required (Mechanical, Electrical, Manufacturing, or related field).

Technical Skills:

Strong mechanical foundation with an emphasis on automation, machine programming, and basic electrical engineering principles.

Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical specifications.

Strong mathematical and physics calculation capabilities (rates, ratios, tolerances, and data analysis).

Knowledge of electronic component identification is required.

Must be able to pass Component ID and IPC-A-610 Solder Inspection training requirements.

Systems & Software:

Proficiency with Shop Floor Tracking Systems / Manufacturing Execution Systems (e.g., Aegis) is preferred.

Working knowledge of drafting tools and Microsoft Office applications.

Core Competencies:

Analytical problem-solving ability, disciplined project planning skills, effective cross-functional communication, and the capacity to present technical details clearly to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Physical Demands & Work Environment

Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, handle materials, and reach with hands and arms.

Specific vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and focus adjustment.

Ability to frequently lift/move up to 10 lbs and occasionally lift/move up to 25 lbs.

Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts on the manufacturing floor.

Adherence to standard Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and OSHA regulations.
