Job summary

EPTAM Precision Molding in Phillipsburg, NJ is seeking a Process Engineer, Injection Molding (1st Shift) to lead process improvements for cost, quality and delivery. This role focuses on developing injection molding processes, validating molds, and supporting production with a Lean, ISO-compliant mindset.

The successful candidate will have 5+ years in injection molding, experience in medical device manufacturing, and knowledge of IQMS.

Qualifications

  • Trade school graduate or associate degree, or equivalent experience; Bachelor’s in Plastics Engineering preferred.
  • Knowledge of Scientific Molding principles.
  • 5+ years of injection molding experience.
  • Medical device manufacturing experience.
  • Experience in 24/7 molding operations.
  • Proven ability to maintain positive employee relations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop injection molding processes using proven methodologies.
  • Validate molding processes and work cell through IQ/OQ/PQ validation.
  • Document molding process, mold setup, layout, and troubleshooting for validated jobs.
  • Participate in project meetings to ensure validation-to-production transition.
  • Support production needs and process improvements.
  • Oversee new process equipment production and ECOs.
  • Establish robust, repeatable process parameters and cycle-time improvements.
  • Apply statistical process control to new and existing products.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation and methods.
  • Ensure ISO and safety standards are followed.
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing and drive continuous improvement.
  • Coordinate line layouts for changes in volume or manpower.
  • Maintain interdepartmental communication on process/material changes.
  • Foster positive team relations and adherence to company values.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Process Engineer will be responsible for process-engineering capabilities focused on cost, quality and delivery improvements in order to support a manufacturing organization for the injection molding industry.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Develop injection molding processes using proven scientific methodologies.
  • Validate injection mold and work cell through IQ,OQ, PQ validation process.
  • Document in detail, molding process, mold set up, work cell layout, and trouble shooting information for each job that is validated.
  • Participate in project meetings in order to keep project on track until completion of validation into production.
  • Support current production needs for trouble shooting and process improvement.
  • Support and oversee new process equipment production.
  • Support the raising and introduction of engineering change orders (ECOs).
  • Establish robust, repeatable and reproducible process parameters
  • Participate in activities pertaining to cycle time and process improvements.
  • Implement statistical process analysis on new and existing products.
  • Develop and maintain process documentation.
  • Review processing methods.
  • Ensures ISO and safety standards are adhered
  • Leverages industry practices and applies to internal systems and processes
  • Implements Lean Manufacturing and drives continuous improvement
  • Responsible for maintaining a high level of motivation
  • Plan and organize layouts for line changes due to volume changes or manpower reductions.
  • Maintain contact with interdepartmental managers to provide feedback when dealing with process or material changes.
  • Understand and execute all plant policies and procedures.
  • Develop and maintain positive team member relations centered on mutual trust, dignity, respect, fairness, consistency, two-way communication, teamwork, and harmony.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Responsible for identifying quality problems in products.

2. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

3. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions

4. Ability to operate a personal computer including using a Windows based operating system and related software. Advanced PC skills, including training and knowledge of EPTAM’s software packages (IQMS).

MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:

EDUCATION : Trade school graduate or associates degree or a combination of experience and education, Bachelor’s Degree in Plastics Engineering preferred.

  • Knowledge of Scientific Molding principals

EXPERIENCE : 5+ years experience in an injection molding operation

  • Medical device manufacturing experience
  • Experience in a 24/7 manufacturing/molding operation
  • Proven success in maintaining positive employee relations

OTHER MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS : Must possess good written and verbal communication skills with our internal and external customers. Basic knowledge of equipment. Advanced ability to read prints and use measuring equipment along with advanced math skills.

Demonstrates experience in performance development, teaching/leading, mentoring and/or organization development. Instills appropriate behavior in others in support of EPTAM values
