Job summary

MPI is seeking a hands-on Lead Reliability Engineer for a high-volume metals manufacturing environment in Lititz, PA. You will partner with production and maintenance to drive equipment performance, reduce downtime, and advance continuous operations excellence.

The role focuses on predictive and preventive maintenance, RCAs, and managing capital projects from scope through execution. You will mentor cross-functional teams, update SOPs, and ensure safety, environmental, and quality standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 3+ years of process engineering in manufacturing.
  • Experience improving reliability, maintenance programs, and process performance.
  • Strong root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and problem-solving skills.
  • Project management involving manufacturing equipment or processes.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
  • Understanding of predictive and preventive maintenance practices.
  • FMEA/reliability assessment/maintenance strategy experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of PLC systems and industrial processes preferred.
  • Analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership abilities.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced production setting.
  • Hands-on with safety and operational mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide process engineering support to production and maintenance teams to meet plant performance goals.
  • Lead initiatives to improve equipment reliability, uptime, and manufacturing efficiency.
  • Develop and implement predictive and preventative maintenance strategies.
  • Drive root cause analysis and structured problem-solving for recurring issues.
  • Manage capital and expense projects from scope development through execution.
  • Coordinate engineering design, fabrication, installation, and commissioning activities.
  • Support annual budgeting and forecasting for maintenance and reliability projects.
  • Monitor reliability metrics, machine efficiency data, and process performance indicators.
  • Conduct equipment criticality assessments, FMEA, and reliability-centered maintenance activities.
  • Develop maintenance plans and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Work with maintenance teams to establish predictive maintenance protocols and best practices.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to reduce downtime and improve operations.
  • Maintain SOPs, maintenance strategies, and process documentation.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering, safety, environmental, and quality standards.
  • Support implementation of new technologies and reliability improvements.
  • Maintain an active presence on the production floor to support operations.

  • Strong knowledge of root cause analysis, continuous improvement, and problem-solving methodologies
  • Project management experience involving manufacturing equipment or process improvements
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD or similar CAD software
  • Understanding of predictive and preventative maintenance practices
  • Experience conducting FMEA, reliability assessments, or maintenance strategy development preferred
  • Knowledge of PLC systems and industrial manufacturing processes preferred
  • Strong analytical, communication, and cross-functional leadership skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced production environment
  • Hands-on approach with a strong safety and operational mindset
