Position Brand Description

The Process Engineer is responsible for establishing and maintaining the reliable operation and qualified state of equipment and business processes in their support area. Ensure equipment is in control, compliant, and capable of meeting customer needs, while driving continuous improvement. The Engineer engages with the cross-functional support team as an equipment subject matter expert to meet safety, quality, and productivity goals.

This role supports the Indy Parenteral Central Inspection area, primarily in B108.

Key Objectives/Deliverables
  1. Ensure a safe working environment by following safety rules and promoting safety culture.
  2. Participate in safety activities (audits, JSA’s, hazard reviews) to improve safety.
  3. Ensure safe design and operation of equipment within the area.
  4. Provide engineering expertise as part of the process team.
  5. Develop technical expertise of equipment and processes.
  6. Establish and monitor control systems to optimize equipment performance.
  7. Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex equipment and operational issues.
  8. Use problem-solving techniques, including Root Cause Analysis, to resolve issues.
  9. Respond to customer requests related to equipment.
  10. Communicate effectively with team members, operations, and maintenance personnel.
  11. Oversee Maintenance Tech/Engineering Tech support.
  12. Evaluate activities for impact on equipment qualification and use appropriate change control tools.
  13. Manage system/component classification and maintenance strategies.
  14. Implement corrections and CAPAs.
  15. Participate in periodic reviews and IQ/OQ/PQ activities, including commissioning of new equipment.
  16. Understand equipment reliability issues for improvement.
  17. Coordinate with asset management to replicate improvements.
  18. Identify and drive improvement opportunities related to equipment.
  19. Compare equipment performance data to identify opportunities.
Basic Requirements
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of experience preferred.
Additional Preferences
  • Experience as a process engineer in the pharmaceutical industry.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to apply scientific/statistical analysis.
  • Experience with root cause analysis.
  • Knowledge of Parenteral equipment and automation systems.
  • Experience with GMP processes, change management, and event management.
  • Commitment to safety and maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Effective communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
  • Proficiency in software tools like Excel, JMP.
  • Ability to work independently, organize, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Engineering or maintenance experience.
Other Information
  • 8-hour day shift.
  • Willingness to work extended hours during peak periods.
  • Availability for off-hour emergency response.
  • Occasional travel for training, conferences, or projects.

Compensation depends on education, experience, skills, and location, with an anticipated salary range of $64,500 - $167,200. Benefits include a 401(k), pension, health insurance, paid time off, and wellness programs. Lilly reserves the right to amend its programs as needed.
