Job summary

Yield Engineering Systems, Inc. in Fremont, CA, seeks a Process Engineer to optimize nanoscale processing equipment and materials, applying SPC/DOE methods. • Master's or PhD in a relevant field with no or limited professional experience.
• In-depth understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Experience with statistical tools (JMP, etc.).
• Proficiency in MATLAB, Python, or similar computing language.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new skills and technologies.
• Familiarity with laboratory work and semiconductor equipment, surface prep and material characterization.
• Ability to travel up to 25% locally or internationally.

Responsibilities

Job Title: Process Engineer

Location: Fremont, CA

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Apply principles of engineering, thermal or fluid sciences, mathematics, or statistics to optimize processes as per customer requirements.
• Write test protocols, perform tests to fully characterize new equipment or processes utilizing DOE methodology or other statistically sound methods, then write completion reports.
• Collaborate internally to plan, collect data, analyze results, and report on customer demos for existing process applications.
• Compile and analyze test data to establish the next steps in process development and determine appropriate limits and variables for process specifications.
• Identify, analyze, and provide solutions and alternate approaches to complex problems, using independent creativity and judgment.
• Communicates findings and proposals to upper management.
• Partner cross-functionally and with customers to understand roadmaps, process flow, inflection points, requirements, and business challenges.
• Train, develop, and/or provide work direction to operators, technicians, and junior-level engineers.

Qualifications:

• Master's degree or PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or related field with no previous professional experience; or equivalent experience.
• In-depth understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and/or Design of Experiments (DOE).
• Experience with statistical tools (JMP, etc.)
• Proficient in MATLAB, Python, or other similar scientific computing language preferred.
• Strong problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new skills, and new technologies, and develop solutions based on project needs.
• Familiarity with working in a laboratory and on semiconductor equipment with experience in surface preparation, analytical techniques, and material characterization.
• Ability to function well in a diverse, team-focused, fast-paced environment with changing requirements.
• Ability to travel up to 25% locally or internationally.

Travel Requirements:

• Position requires up to 25% travel.
