Job summary

Buzzi Unicem USA Inc. in Festus, Missouri (near St. Louis) seeks an experienced Process Engineer to join our team at the Festus plant.

You will supervise and participate in process flow studies, work with night supervisors, maintenance, and automation to improve production, ensure safety and environmental compliance, and support continuous improvement in cement operations.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering is required, Chemical Engineering preferred
• Two (2) - four (4) years of experience in operations
• Familiarity with Cement Industry operations
• Solid computer skills and ability to work with safety and environmental policies
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop long-term repair/maintenance solutions

Responsibilities

• Schedule, supervise and participate in process-flow studies for all production systems and train plant personnel
• Collaborate with Night Plant Supervisors, Maintenance Planner and Automation Engineer to address process flow concerns and minimize downtime
• Analyze equipment shutdowns and recommend operational and control changes
• Ensure adherence to plant rules for conduct, health and safety and environmental issues
• Be on-call for plant needs and cover Production Manager as necessary
• Lead weekly safety meetings and inspect for unsafe conditions to reduce injuries
• Supervise contractors on projects and maintain cost records for process control work
• Ensure work orders for operations and safety inspections are provided to Maintenance planner

Responsibilities

Our Festus, Missouri Plant (near St. Louis) is searching for an experienced Process Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities include:

• • Schedule, supervise and take part in process flow studies for all production systems; plan, design, coordinate and schedule process-flow improvement projects; and train and support plant personnel in process flow activities
  • Work closely with Night Plant Supervisors, Maintenance Planner and Automation Engineer to address process flow concerns, minimizing down times; develop and implement regular system flow analysis programs; and prepare process flow materials and services contracts
  • Analyze equipment shutdowns and make recommendations for operational and control changes, and follow up on implementation of agreed upon changes
  • Ensure adherence to the Company’s plant rules for conduct, health and safety, and environmental issues by supervised personnel; and administer appropriate disciplinary actions for violations
  • On-call for covering plant needs, both routine and emergency needs as required, and fills in for Production Manager as necessary
  • Conduct or attend weekly safety meetings; inspect the department daily for unsafe working conditions and equipment to aid in reducing on-the-job injuries and to eliminate lost time accidents
  • Supervise contractors on production department projects; maintain records of costs on all process control project work
  • Ensure work orders required by operations and safety inspections are provided to Maintenance planner.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering is required, Chemical Engineering is preferred
• Two (2) - four (4)years of experience in operations
• Cement experience is preferred, but not required
• Familiarity with operational aspects of Cement Industry
• Strong interpersonal skills; ability to build consensus and confidence
• Self-starter and inquisitive by nature
• Able to develop long‑term solutions for repair and maintenance problems
• Solid computer skills
• Working knowledge of Environmental, Safety and Health, and company policies
• Requires physical dexterity and strength to lift heavy objects and to move through close areas
• Physical environment is in the plant – dusty, noisy and potentially hazardous
