Job summary

Personnel Resources, Inc. is seeking an Extrusion Process Engineer to optimize PVC extrusion and compounding, improve product quality, throughput, and overall efficiency.

The role collaborates with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D to resolve process issues and support new product launches. Responsibilities include developing process parameters, troubleshooting equipment, conducting trials, and supporting single- and twin-screw extruders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Plastics, Materials, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of plastics extrusion/process engineering experience.
• PVC extrusion experience strongly preferred.

• Troubleshoot extrusion equipment, tooling, materials, and product defects.
• Conduct process trials and support new product and tooling development.

• Monitor quality, scrap, throughput, OEE, and other key process metrics.
• Lead or support Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
• Train production personnel on process controls and troubleshooting.

We are seeking an Extrusion Process Engineer to optimize and troubleshoot PVC extrusion and compounding processes while improving product quality, throughput, and overall efficiency. This position works closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and R&D to resolve process issues, support new product launches, and drive continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Develop and optimize extrusion process parameters, SOPs, and process specifications.
• Troubleshoot extrusion equipment, tooling, materials, and product defects.
• Conduct process trials and support new product and tooling development.
• Support operation and optimization of single- and twin-screw extruders and downstream equipment.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Monitor quality, scrap, throughput, OEE, and other key process metrics.
• Work with R&D on PVC formulations, raw materials, and regrind/recycled content.
• Lead or support Lean, Six Sigma, Kaizen, and other continuous improvement initiatives.
• Support equipment commissioning, maintenance, and process improvements.
• Train production personnel on process controls and troubleshooting.
• Maintain process documentation and support ISO/IATF quality requirements.
• Promote safe manufacturing and environmental practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Plastics, Materials, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 3+ years of plastics extrusion/process engineering experience.
• PVC extrusion experience strongly preferred.
• Knowledge of PVC compounding and formulation.
• Hands-on experience with extruders, dies, calibrators, and downstream equipment.
• Experience with SPC/SQC and root cause analysis tools such as 5 Why, Fishbone, or 8D.
• Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma experience preferred.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office; Minitab or similar software is a plus.

Work Environment

This position is based in a manufacturing environment with exposure to heat, noise, and moving equipment. Must be able to stand, walk, and bend.

Salary: $70-80k, depending on experience
