Job summary

Woodbridge Chattanooga Formed Plastics L.P. seeks a process engineer to provide technical support across manufacturing locations, drive process improvements, and develop formulations for launches and startups.

You will analyze data, collaborate with maintenance and production, and contribute to cost-reduction initiatives. The role requires 1–2 years in an engineering setting, strong mechanical aptitude, and knowledge of lean manufacturing principles; familiarity with AutoCAD and SPC is a plus.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of engineering experience in a technical role.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on problem solving.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Knowledge of SPC, lean concepts and automation basics is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop formulations/techniques to meet production specs.
• Own daily process operations and drive improvements.
• Collaborate with maintenance to resolve equipment issues.
• Coordinate with production on concerns and optimization.
• Plan and run process improvement experiments.
• Improve material usage and reduce waste.

Position Summary

Provide technical support to manufacturing locations through process related problem solving, process improvements and cost reduction programs, and the development and implementation of improved formulations, methods, equipment and associated technology, new product launches and new plant startups. Support, coordinate and assist in sampling activities. Prepare and analyze technical reports.

Job Responsibilities

• Develop formulations and pour patterns to meet production specifications
• Responsible for the daily process operations
• Liaison with maintenance to solve process equipment problems
• Liaison with production to address production concerns
• Plan and execute process improvement experiments
• Optimize raw material usage and minimize waste
• Participate in health & safety and quality audit process
• Write and update SOPs, SOTs, procedures, etc.

Education

• One to two years’ experience in an engineering role
• Strong mechanical aptitude
• Good verbal and interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of SPC and automotive quality standards, statistical experiments, ladder logic, metering pumps, drives, sensors and transducers, control theory, hydraulics, pneumatic are assets.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, Continuous Improvement, 5S, and Kaizen is a plus
• Required to work various shifts
• Computer skills, such as AutoCAD, Windows, spreadsheets, databases and word processing software
