Insight Global is seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Process Engineer to support machining-heavy operations for our automotive client in Buffalo, NY. You will work with Production and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize equipment performance, and lead continuous improvement initiatives in a fast-paced environment.
The role requires Lean Manufacturing knowledge, experience with equipment design, and the ability to solve problems in real time to reduce downtime and improve throughput.

Insight Global is seeking a hands-on, technically driven Manufacturing Process Engineer to support and enhance machining-intensive operations for our automotive manufacturing client in Buffalo, NY. You’ll work directly with Production and Maintenance teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize equipment performance, and lead continuous improvement efforts. This role requires a strong understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles, equipment design, and the ability to solve problems in real-time within a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities Include
Daily Production Support:
Partner with Production and Maintenance teams to resolve equipment and process issues
Lead root cause analysis and corrective actions for downtime events
Plug into PLCs and CNC systems to diagnose and resolve logic or performance issues
Process & Equipment Engineering:
Design, build, and maintain machinery, tools, and automation systems
Collaborate with machine and tool builders for new equipment launches
Lead plant equipment installation, debug, and continuous improvement activities
Provide technical oversight for vendors during on-site work
Drive productivity improvements through cycle time, uptime, and quality enhancements
Identify and eliminate waste in processes using Lean Manufacturing principles
Support implementation of GM’s Global Manufacturing System and standardized work
Coach and train production teams on Lean tools and problem-solving techniques
Project & Documentation Work:
Support change management and production trials for new processes
Create and maintain process documentation, including PFMEAs, control plans, and flow diagrams
Contribute to lessons learned and best practice updates for central process teams
Evaluate bottlenecks and develop solutions to improve throughput
Must be comfortable working any of the following shifts:
1st shift: 7 am-3:30 pm Monday-Friday
2nd shift: 3 pm-11:30 pm Monday-Friday
3rd shift: 11 pm -7:30 am Sunday through Thursday morning shift
