Job summary

Commercial Metals seeks a seasoned engineer to lead and accelerate manufacturing process improvements across our polymer and heavy industry operations. The role entails analyzing performance data, implementing lean initiatives, and collaborating with maintenance and engineering on capital projects to improve efficiency and safety.

The ideal candidate holds a Bachelor's in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in process improvement, polymer processes, and lean manufacturing, and will thrive in

Qualifications

  • 5+ years experience leading and driving manufacturing process improvements.
  • Experience in polymer extrusion and polymer testing is a plus.
  • Lean manufacturing/5S and productivity improvement experience required.
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment with strong work ethic and attention to detail.
  • Ability to collaborate with maintenance and engineering on capital projects.

What You'll Do
  • Identify, recommend, and implement process improvement opportunities where applicable
  • Drive process improvements based on performance analysis and lessons learned
  • Provide technical support regarding plant equipment, process efficiency, and plant wide safety
  • Recommend and implement process improvements
  • Develop solutions and improvements to equipment and processes
  • Responsible for process stabilization and improvement in all shop areas
  • Collaborate with maintenance and engineering on capital projects and commissioning of new equipment
What You'll Need
  • Minimum of 5 years experience leading and driving manufacturing process improvements. Heavy industry experience a plus.
  • Experience in Polymer extrusion, plastic additives, polymer testing, R&D experimentation and analysis is a plus
  • Prior experience in successful implementation of lean manufacturing/5S and productivity improvement initiatives is required
  • Ability to work as a team player in a fast-paced environment, with excellent strong work ethic, attention to detail, and organizational skills
  • Ability to work with teams and different departments
  • Ability to track, chart, and improve processes
  • Ability to motivate and organize multiple efforts to accomplish goals
  • Able to communicate, verbally and written, with operators, supervisors, maintenance, suppliers, management, and plant support staff
  • Able to prioritize, plan and drive issues, tasks, and deliverables from concept to closure
Your Education
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required.
  • A degree in Science or Engineering (Polymer, Chemical, or Mechanical) is strongly preferred
