Job summary

Medgene Labs seeks a Process Development and Improvement Associate Scientist to execute development and improvement studies for recombinant protein production. Experience in protein production, cell culture, and fermentation is preferred. Strong documentation, SOP compliance, and aseptic technique are required.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to transfer processes, minimize losses, and maintain high-quality production standards from culture to bottling under CVB guidelines.

Qualifications

  • BS in Biochemistry or Microbiology, or an Associate with relevant experience.
  • Experience with fermentation and/or cell culture, chromatography, or downstream processing preferred.
  • Operation of basic laboratory equipment and adherence to safety and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

  • Read and understand SOPs and protocols; maintain records of policy adherence.
  • Follow study protocols under supervision; execute experiments in small-scale bioreactors and fermenters.
  • Maintain detailed notebooks and batch records; ensure aseptic technique.
  • Assist with production activities and technology transfers; produce veterinary vaccines per CVB guidelines.

Position Summary

Medgene Labs seeks a Process Development and Improvement Associate Scientist who will be responsible for executing process development and improvement studies for the manufacture of recombinant proteins. Experience preferred in protein production, cell culture techniques, and/or fermentation/recombinant bacterial techniques. Coordination and cooperation with other teams are essential. The position requires the ability to write, read, and understand standard operating procedures and be able to execute the procedures. Good documentation practices are required while documenting the work that is being performed.

Job Duties
  • Read and understand SOPs and Protocols.
    • Maintains records detailing adherence to established policies.
  • Follow study protocols under the direction of the supervisor.
  • Execute experiments in small-scale bioreactors and fermenters to optimize expression and product quality of recombinant biologics.
  • Maintain detailed and accurate laboratory notebooks/batch records.
  • Maintain aseptic technique procedures.
  • Preparation of buffers, growth media, and solutions.
  • Help maintain laboratory equipment, supplies, and a clean/safe working environment.
  • Assist with production activities as needed.
  • Work with Production on transfer of products and methods.
  • Produce experimental veterinary vaccines in compliance with CVB guidelines and regulations.
    • Maintains appropriate records commensurate with CVB guidelines.
    • Ensures high-quality production standards from culture through bottling.
  • Ensure security of Master Seed, Unreleased, and Released Products.
  • Assist with creating the conditions for increasing productivity by analyzing and improving existing processes as well as improving technology transfers and minimizing losses.
  • Performs other work as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • BS in Biochemistry, Microbiology, or Associate with relevant experience
  • Previous experience with fermentation and/or cell culture, chromatography, or other downstream processing techniques is preferred, but not required.
  • Operation of basic laboratory equipment.
  • Basic level knowledge and understanding of laboratory safety procedures.
  • Aseptic Techniques and good laboratory practices.
  • Good Documentation Practices.
