Job summary

Illumina seeks a Process Engineer II to join the Substrates Team in the Manufacturing Technology & Transfer group. You will lead development and transfer of scalable manufacturing processes for new products, collaborating with R&D, Quality, and Supply Chain to ensure robust, compliant operations.

You will design experiments, analyze data, and implement solutions in production environments, driving yield and quality improvements while supporting product commercialization in a regulated setting.

Qualifications

• B.S./M.S. in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Material Science with 2+ years in production sustaining, process development, scale-up and validation.
• PhD in Chemical Engineering, Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or Material Science with relevant experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Partner with R&D, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, and Quality to design robust, high-volume processes.
• Design, run, and analyze DoE studies to optimize yield and quality in production.
• Lead product configuration changes within ERP to support launches.
• Conduct root cause investigations using 8D, model-based problem solving, and statistics.
• Serve as SME for CTQ/CTP process characteristics.
• Apply FMEA, SPC, Gauge R&R, CPM, and DFM to improve process capability.
• Lead project teams and define technical requirements for scale-up to commercialization.
