Job description

Process Development Engineer, Electroplating Lines

Alliance Finishing & Manufacturing is a Ventura County leader in electroplating and engineering services for military, aerospace, and commercial component manufacturers worldwide. The company has 30 employees, 25+ years in business, and recently began plating composite production parts using patented GreenPOP technology on plastics.

The Process Development Engineer will scale and optimize our proprietary chemical plating on plastic line, leading the team to roll out the production line for military and high‑end commercial customers. The role requires a solid understanding of plating processes, chemistry, and the ability to develop a stable, predictive process for large‑volume plastic plated components.

Ideal candidates are hands‑on, adaptable, and independent thinkers, able to work in the plant and interface with operators. The Engineer reports directly to the President of Alliance Finishing & Manufacturing.

Responsibilities
  • Partner with leadership to design, optimize, troubleshoot, and establish overall process activities to scale our proprietary chemical plating on plastic process and maintain high‑quality product yields.
  • Analyze data from production and engineering runs, qualifying changes or additions to process flows to build the optimal plating on plastics line.
  • Lead engineering experiments and solve plating complications, driving process performance improvements, including optimization, cost reduction, and training of plating personnel.
  • Manage activities of chemical platers and inspectors on the production line.
  • Establish process controls to maintain robust process capabilities.
  • Provide solid leadership on cross‑functional projects to manage complex production process and integration challenges.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Electrochemical, Chemical Engineering, or Materials Science.
  • Preferable 5+ years in process manufacturing or process development in a chemical or electroplating environment; recent graduates with strong technical depth and right skills may be considered.
  • Experience setting up and sustaining electrochemistry equipment, processes, and metrology methods for controlling and monitoring processes.
  • Hands‑on experience with process, chemistry, and chemical development for advanced electrochemical processes.
  • Familiarity with plating on military and high‑end commercial parts and/or ABS‑PC plastics.
  • Ability to autonomously drive and prioritize multiple projects with limited direction.
  • Proven track record of developing and deploying creative and practical process solutions for high‑volume manufacturing.
  • Willingness to take responsibility and ownership, focusing aggressively on problems individually or as part of a team.
  • Strong analytical skills to make meaningful inferences from incomplete data.
  • Comfort working with R&D, Process Integration, and Operations functions to accomplish tasks in a timely manner.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Self‑motivated team player capable of adapting to changing needs and priorities.
  • Demonstrated project management skills, delivering projects on schedule, within budget, and meeting quality requirements; familiarity with ISO 9000 or NADCAP would be a plus.
Benefits
  • Competitive hourly salary.
  • Vacation pay.
  • Sick pay (3 days).
  • Holiday pay.
  • 401(k) plan.
