Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical Engineering or Materials Science (or related field)
• 5+ years of aluminum processing experience
• 5+ years of process engineering experience in heavy industry (metals preferred)
• Experience using statistical methods for data acquisition, root cause analysis, process control, and capability analysis
• Experience leading technical projects in a manufacturing environment
• Ability to collaborate across multiple manufacturing facilities
• Ability to manage projects independently, including at remote locations
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

• Develop, define, and complete assigned R&D projects on a timely basis
• Work in cross-functional teams with Advanced Engineering and plant resources
• Support process analysis and improvement initiatives at Kaiser sites
• Use data to drive sustainable process and product improvements
• Design experiments and analyze results to inform recommendations
• Research aluminum materials and processes for potential improvements
• Assist in evaluating equipment designs and testing
• Communicate project status and findings through reports and presentations
• Lead Housekeeping and 5S initiatives within Advanced Engineering
• Support safety initiatives within the team
