Your Role

In this role, you will work in a project-focused environment as part of a multidisciplinary Process Development (PD) team responsible for developing and qualifying manufacturing methods to support new product introductions and optimize existing processes. The PD team includes project managers and technical specialists across disciplines such as organic chemistry, molecular biology, microbiology, analytical chemistry, and biochemistry.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Assess and select appropriate equipment for various processes, ensuring compatibility and efficiency.
  2. Identify and evaluate critical process parameters and control points to maintain process efficiency and product quality. Optimize conditions for large-scale production.
  3. Improve energy usage, reduce waste, and enhance overall productivity of unit operations.
  4. Develop and implement experimental plans to test various aspects of the process, ensuring scalability and reproducibility.
  5. Collaborate with scientists, project managers, and operations teams to integrate test data and findings into manufacturing processes. Perform troubleshooting and qualification of new methods, and assist in training and transferring these methods to manufacturing.
  6. Present hypotheses, test data, and conclusions to internal and external stakeholders to support project goals.
  7. Conduct fermentation (bacterial and fungal), natural extraction, biocatalysis, protein purification, centrifugation, chromatography, and advanced filtration methods (tangential flow filtration), lyophilization.
  8. Perform organic synthesis, recrystallization, distillation, extraction, chromatography, filtration, freeze drying, spray drying, heat treatment, mixing, and blending.
Who You Are
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related Engineering discipline.
  • At least 3 years of experience in chemical manufacturing.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Hands-on experience with manufacturing equipment and at-scale testing and optimization.
  • Experience with common unit operations listed above.
  • Strong communication skills to effectively present hypotheses, data, and conclusions.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including scientists, project managers, and operations staff.
