Job description

As the Process Design Engineer, you will perform complex assignments often requiring development of new or improved products, processes, or techniques. You may also assess the feasibility and soundness of proposed engineering tests, products, and equipment.

You will report to the Engineer Manager of the Preform Division. This position offers a hybrid work model, with time split between Bakersfield, CA, and Salem, OR. Salary Range: $110,000 to $145,000

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop manufacturing equipment and manage full lifecycle processes, collaborating with other groups on vehicle design from concept to production.
2. Work with design teams to establish manufacturability standards early in the design and prototype phases.
3. Design processes that support high-volume production lines and oversee dimensional quality in production vehicles.
4. Lead activities related to dimensional quality targets, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing strategies, quality control, and continuous improvement.
5. Participate in line design reviews, including robotic and tooling simulations, cycle time planning, and layout optimization.
6. Coordinate with tooling development and OEM vendors to ensure final product delivery.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's or master's degree in chemical or electrical engineering with at least 5 years of manufacturing experience.
2. Experience with high-speed, automated manufacturing lines.
3. Hands-on experience working with line vendors for layout, tooling design, installation, and commissioning.
