Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates seeks a Process Design Engineer in Aiken, SC to develop and implement design changes for facility operations, chemical processing, waste handling, and system integration. You will ensure performance, safety, and compatibility with upstream and downstream interfaces.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in chemical, nuclear, or mechanical engineering and experience in process engineering or design within industrial or chemical facilities with knowledge of process

Qualifications

• Experience in process engineering or process design in industrial or chemical facilities.
• Knowledge of process calculations and process documentation.

Responsibilities

• Develop process calculations, design inputs, technical evaluations, and system modifications.
• Prepare and revise process flow diagrams, P&IDs, process descriptions, and equipment datasheets.
• Evaluate impacts of design changes on flow, pressure, temperature, chemistry, batch timing, and throughput.
• Support design changes affecting tanks, transfer systems, filtration, solvent extraction, chemical addition, and waste routing.
• Define process requirements for other engineering disciplines.
• Support hazards reviews, design reviews, test planning, and implementation activities.

Process Design Engineer

The Process Design Engineer is responsible for developing and implementing process design changes that support facility operations, chemical processing, waste handling, and system integration. This role ensures process modifications maintain performance, safety, and compatibility with upstream and downstream facility interfaces.

Duties

• Develop process calculations, design inputs, technical evaluations, and system modifications.
• Prepare and revise process flow diagrams, P&IDs, process descriptions, and equipment/process datasheets.
• Evaluate impacts of design changes on flow, pressure, temperature, chemistry, batch timing, and throughput.
• Support design changes affecting tanks, transfer systems, filtration, solvent extraction, chemical addition, and waste routing.
• Define process requirements for other engineering disciplines.

Education/Experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in radioactive waste processing, chemical separations, or hazardous process systems.
• Familiarity with batch processing and waste transfer systems.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance.
