Job summary

Abbott Laboratories seeks a manufacturing engineer to develop design specifications and performance requirements for medical devices. You will select techniques to solve problems,evaluate alternatives and ensure compliance with FDA regulations and Quality Control standards.

In this role you will work within a matrixed, cross‑functional team, advancing manufacturing processes, reducing costs, and implementing design changes that meet regulatory and quality requirements.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor's degree in engineering or a technical field.
• Minimum 2 years in manufacturing.
• Experience designing and testing medical devices.
• Experience developing manufacturing processes and applying manufacturability principles.
• Ability to work in a matrixed, diverse environment.

Responsibilities

• Establishes processes based on product specifications.
• Evaluates design and process alternatives using manufacturability principles.
• Understands Cost of Goods Sold considerations.
• Manages compliance with Quality Control requirements (Design Control, Process validation).
• Assesses IP issues related to developing processes.
• Keeps updated on new manufacturing/design technologies.
• Complies with OSHA and regulatory requirements.
• Supports company initiatives related to QMS and EMS.
