Tom Trese, a well-established specialty chemical manufacturer in Birmingham, is seeking a Control Systems Engineer to join their automation team. This new role focuses on programming control systems and instrumentation, primarily in an office environment with occasional manufacturing plant work.
The ideal candidate will have a B.S. in Electrical or Chemical Engineering, along with at least 3 years of experience in chemical manufacturing, preferably in PSM-regulated environments. Familiarity with Rockwell PLCs and DCS platforms is essential.
This is a well-established, family‑owned specialty chemical manufacturer located in the Greater Birmingham area; they've been around for 60+ years and have been steadily growing over the past several years.
This is a new role that will be joining a team of people in place and the overall focus of this group is automation of the chemical manufacturing plant. They use Rockwell PLCs and PlantPAx (Rockwell's DCS platform), as well as HMI and SCADA. This role will primarily focus on programming of control systems and instrumentation. There are two other process control engineers in the group and one of them is the group leader. So, mostly office work with occasional work in the manufacturing plant. This role will occasionally get involved with troubleshooting communication networks. Minimal travel associated with this role.
