Job summary

ManpowerGroup in Houston is seeking a Regional Process Controls Engineer to lead batch controls programs, update control and safety narratives, and support DCS/SIS startup and commissioning. The role requires strong process control expertise and collaboration with cross-functional teams.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in process control within petrochemical or refining environments, hands-on Delta-V or Foxboro I/A experience, and a proven track record mentoring engineers while driving safety

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in chemical or Electrical engineering or related STEM field.
• 10+ years of process control or process engineering experience in petrochemical/refining environments.
• Experience with Batch Operations and Batch management is preferred.
• Familiarity with Delta-V or Foxboro I/A DCS systems is required.

Responsibilities

• Develops and provides SME in batch controls and batch manager usage.
• Maintains control narratives and safety system narratives for licensing packages.
• Supports DCS/SIS startup, site acceptance tests, and plant commissioning.
• Mentors other process control engineers across the division.
• Coordinates with APC engineers to ensure proper control schemes when APC is off.
• Identifies solutions to improve plant performance and participates in Six Sigma projects.
• Participates in safety and alarm management activities and ensures policy compliance.

Regional Process Controls Houston

Key Responsibilities of the position include but are not limited to the following:

• Develops and provides subject matter expertise in the effective use of batch controls and batch manager.
• Maintains and updates the control narratives, complex control logic and process safety system narratives for licensing process design packages.
• Provides direct support for Detailed Design and Startup of DCS and SIS systems including Site Acceptance Tests, Factory Acceptance Tests and Plant commissioning and Startup.
• Mentors other process control engineers across the division.
• Coordinates with APC engineers to ensure the smooth functioning of the controls, the advanced controls and the appropriate shedding control schemes when APC is turned off.
• Identifies and implements solutions to improve plant performance.
• Relieve other process control engineers for vacation or other absences.
• Participate in Six Sigma teams to evaluate and implement identified projects
• Facilitates compliance with alarm system management policies and standards, for assigned process units. This may include leadership of the operational review meetings, and activities to rationalize alarm settings and priorities to meet KPI targets.
• Participate in the plant and vertical Personal and Process Safety activities.
• Ensure compliance with all corporate procedures and guidelines. Complete annual required training on time.

Educational and Work Experience Requirements:

• Preferred bachelor’s degree in chemical or Electrical engineering. Other qualifications in Mathematics, Engineering or Computer Science will be considered when paired with experience with Process Control applications.
• Prefer that candidate have experience with Batch Operations and Batch management. Must have relevant process control experience in the petrochemical or refining process industries. Prefer 10+ years’ experience in Process Control or Process Engineering environment.
• Preferred familiarity with either Emerson Delta-V or Foxboro I/A distributed control system (DCS). Experience with a commercial DCS system commonly used in the petrochemical processes is a must.
• Experience with process engineering in an operating environment.
• Aptitude with computerized applications.
