Job summary

Ambs Chemical Search LLC is seeking an experienced controls engineer to provide technical support for DCS and related systems on a chemical production site. The role involves designing, configuring, and troubleshooting DCS/PLC/HMI, process historians, and network systems to optimize production.

The candidate will develop and modify control logic, alarms, historian tags, and operator interfaces, implement improvements, analyze data, and support commissioning and startup of new controls equipment.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering and 6+ years of chemical or refining industry experience.
• Experience designing, commissioning, and supporting DCS/PLC/HMI systems.

Responsibilities

• Design, configure, troubleshoot the DCS, PLC, HMI, process historian systems, and network systems. Use these systems to help optimize the production processes.
• Develop and modify control logic, graphics, alarms, historian tags, and operator interfaces
• Implement control system improvements, migrations, patches, hardware replacements
• Analyze process data and system performance to identify and implement opportunities for process improvement.
• Support commissioning, startup, and optimization of new controls equipment
• Troubleshoot instrumentation and control system issues and lead root cause investigations
• Lead and/or support controls and related instrumentation capital projects from concept development through startup and project closeout.
• Develop project scopes, technical specifications, cost estimates, schedules, and equipment requirements.
• Drive maintenance, testing, and reliability programs for controls and related systems.

Growing chemical plant site that is adding two new product lines. Stable company with no OSHA recordables in 6 years. Good teamwork at this site with well trained operators and skilled techs who handle the great majority of the after hours call.

Primary focus: Technical support for the DCS and associated systems at a chemical production site.
