Job Description

Process Automation Engineer - Columbus, NE

Full-Time | Exempt | On-Site

ADM is seeking a Process Automation Engineer to support and improve our industrial control systems at our Columbus, NE campus. You'll play a key role in advancing operational excellence, safety, and innovation through automation projects and systems modernization.

What You'll Do:

  • Design, develop, and troubleshoot industrial control systems
  • Implement and maintain process automation software and hardware
  • Collaborate across teams to identify and execute improvement opportunities
  • Document configurations, standards, and safety interlocks
  • Ensure cybersecurity and safety compliance in automation systems
  • Support third-party suppliers/contractors as needed
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for off-hours and holiday coverage
Who You Are:
  • A proactive, hands-on problem solver who thrives in industrial environments
  • Skilled in controls programming, system diagnostics, and project execution
  • Comfortable working in extreme temperatures, confined spaces, and heights
  • A clear communicator with strong documentation and organizational skills
  • A self-starter who can lead or contribute to cross-functional teams
Requirements:
  • 2+ years of experience in process control within an industrial setting
  • Experience with AC/DC electrical systems and voltages up to 120V
  • Familiarity with P&IDs, instrumentation, and control systems
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities
Preferred Experience:
  • Bachelor's (or Associate's) degree in Engineering or related technical field
  • Experience with DCS/PLC platforms: Emerson DeltaV, Honeywell, Allen Bradley, Wonderware, Plant PAX, etc.
  • Familiarity with data historians (e.g., Aveva PI) and industrial networks (TCP/IP, Modbus, etc.)
