Job summary

Brunel is seeking a Process Automation Technician – Commissioning to support installation verification, calibration, testing, loop checking, and commissioning of process automation and control systems on industrial projects. This role ensures field instrumentation and control equipment are installed and tested per project specifications and safety requirements.

The candidate will verify instrument installations, perform calibration, configure smart instruments using HART or Foundation Fieldbus,

Qualifications

3–8 years of experience supporting instrumentation, automation, and commissioning activities on industrial projects.
Experience working on EPC or industrial facilities such as mining, power generation, oil & gas, metals and minerals, or other heavy industrial projects.
Hands‑on experience with field instrumentation, process automation systems, and control system commissioning.

Responsibilities

Verify the installation of field instrumentation, including pressure, temperature, flow, and level instruments.
Inspect cable terminations, labeling, tagging, and grounding for accuracy and completeness.
Perform calibration of field instruments using certified test equipment.
Configure and adjust transmitters, switches, and control valves in accordance with project requirements.
Maintain accurate calibration records and documentation.
Support loop checks between field devices and DCS, PLC, or SCADA systems.
Verify signal continuity, scaling, polarity, and instrument functionality.
Assist with I/O verification, cabinet inspections, and communication testing.
Assist with integration between field devices and control system hardware.
Assist with commissioning and start‑up of automation systems.
Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve loop check discrepancies.
Complete and maintain commissioning documentation, including functional test reports.

Education

Diploma or Technical Certificate in Instrumentation, Automation, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
