Job summary

Boar's Head Brand in Indiana seeks a quality auditor to oversee manufacturing processes, ensuring products meet company specifications for meat and poultry. This role requires strong problem solving, clear communication, and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

You will partner with operations leadership to resolve quality issues, perform data analysis on process data and logs, and support continuous improvement initiatives, HACCP, GMPs, and SSOPs compliance.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years in production/manufacturing environment, preferably meat or food processing.
  • A degree in a food science discipline preferred; or equivalent experience.
  • Experience understanding processing, quality monitoring and government regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with databases and analytical software helpful.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMPs, and SSOPs preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Audit all steps in manufacturing processes to ensure compliance with company specifications.
  • Coordinate with Plant Manager, QA Manager, and Customer Service to resolve product quality complaints.
  • Monitor quality through product slicing and finished product evaluation to verify quality expectations.
  • Provide support to the plant to resolve processing problems.

Job Description

Responsible for auditing all manufacturing processes in the plant to ensure products comply with Boar’s Head specifications for quality. Position requires practical skills in the fields of process development, process implementation, and continuous process improvement for meat and poultry products. Candidate must have a keen interest in assisting with trouble‑shooting of technical problems, and coordinating continuous process/product improvement efforts. The job requires the ability to handle multiple tasks at one time. It is essential, that the person have the ability to communicate the department mission and objectives in a clear and persuasive manner, and the ability to meet all project commitments/timelines.

Responsibilities
Essential Functions
  • Responsible for auditing all steps in the manufacturing processes to ensure they comply with Company specifications.
  • Liaison with Customer Service, Plant Manager, and the Quality Assurance Manager to resolve all product quality complaints.
  • Responsible for other quality monitoring processes such as product slicings and finished product evaluation to verify that products meet quality expectations.
  • Provide other support to the plant to resolve processing problems.
Qualifications
Education and Experience
  • Three (3) to Five (5) years experience working in a production/manufacturing environment; preferably in meat processing or similar food processing environment.
  • A degree in a food science discipline preferred; or experience equivalent.
  • Experience demonstrating an understanding of processing, quality monitoring and government regulations.
  • Must have the ability to use Microsoft Office products; experience with databases and other analytical software programs helpful.
  • Knowledge of HACCP, GMP’s, and SSOP’s preferred.
Language Skills
  • Effective communication with all levels of plant personnel is necessary; must be fluent in English. Must effectively communicate on a technical level and effectively express technical concepts to non-technical personnel. Must be able to write and interpret technical reports.
Mathematical Skills
  • Capable of performing and understanding mathematical calculations associated with meat processing and laboratory testing such as product formulations, percent yield, added ingredients, and protein fat free calculations. Must be able to read and analyze process data, charts, graphs, and logs.
Reasoning Ability
  • Strong analytical and logical problem solving skills are required.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time and be able to lift and carry up to 30 lbs.
