Job summary

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking a qualified Procedure Writer for an Oak Ridge, TN opportunity at the Y-12 National Security Complex. The role focuses on developing and revising technical procedures to safely perform dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, and related tasks.

The writer will ensure compliance with DOE orders, quality systems, and procedure authoring tools, coordinate reviews, and implement hazard controls.

Qualifications

• BS degree with 10+ years’ experience in technical disciplines or 18 years’ experience writing procedures in a nuclear/Weapons Complex.
• Familiarity with regulatory requirements impacting procedures and DOE Orders/Standards.
• Experience developing procedures in a commercial or Weapons Complex facility.

Responsibilities

• Develop, revise, or modify technical procedures for dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, procurement, radiography, and weld inspection.
• Coordinate procedure reviews and resolve comments per internal tools and processes.
• Implement hazard controls and ensure procedures can be performed as written through verification and validation.

Edgewater Technical Associates is seeking qualified candidates for a Procedure Writer opportunity in Oak Ridge, TN at the Y-12 National Security Complex.

Description:

The Procedure Writer is responsible for developing new, revised, or modified technical procedures which enable personnel to safely and correctly perform tasks associated with dimensional inspection, material testing, metrology, procurement, radiography, and weld inspection.

Duties:

• The writer is responsible for complying with Y15-232, Technical Procedure Process, and the Technical Procedure Authoring Tool (TPAT).
• Procedure Writers will occasionally develop or revise administrative procedures and are responsible for complying with Y15-235, Administrative Management Requirements Process, and the Administrative Procedure Authoring Tool (APAT).
• Writer is also responsible for developing Enterprise procedures applicable to Y-12 and Pantex.
• Writers prepare & coordinate procedure reviews and comment resolution.
• The Writer implements hazard controls, captures quality and performance data, and ensures that the procedure can be performed as written through verification and validation.

Qualifications:

• BS degree with 10+ years’ experience in technical disciplines in addition to experience writing technical procedures in a commercial or Weapons Complex facility. In lieu of degree, a technical background with 18 years’ experience in writing technical procedures in a commercial nuclear or Weapons Complex may be considered.
• Writers must be familiar with the regulatory and administrative requirements affecting procedures and must determine the technical requirements that apply to the procedures by examining DOE Orders and Standards; 60-101PD, Quality Assurance Program Description, and Y60-015, Integrated Quality Manual; Nuclear Criticality Safety (NCS) documents; and Hazard Analysis documents.

Other Job Requirements:

• Must be able to obtain and maintain DOE Q Security Clearance.
