Job summary

Mayo Clinic is seeking a procedural support assistant to join the Radiology Imaging team in Phoenix, AZ. You will support patients before, during, and after procedures, assist the consultant, and help with postoperative tasks including specimen handling and room turnover.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, with two years of patient care experience or one year in customer service preferred. Some roles may involve medical terminology training and BP/ECG-related tasks.

Responsibilities

• The procedural support assistant is an integral member of the procedural team in providing patient support and information prior to the procedure, instruction to the patient and assistance to the consultant during the procedure, and is involved in the postoperative support and information reporting, specimen handling and management, obtaining vital signs, room turnaround and cleaning, as well as supply management delegated by appropriate procedural team members.
• The procedural support assistant assists with other aspects of patient care including patient visits and supports the health care provider by anticipating and responding to patient needs and requests of the health care team.
• They will also transport patients to and from the department.

Ability to communicate with individuals and small groups with credibility and confidence. Preferred

Associate's Degree and coursework in a healthcare related field is preferred (e.g., Administrative Clinic Assistant, Medical Office, Medical Assistant, Health Care/Medical Receptionist or comparable). Exposure to electronic health record preferred.

License/Certification

Individuals that have not completed a Medical Terminology course will be required to successfully complete a Medical Terminology course within six months of employment. Maintains Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) competency. Additional specialty certification/training as required by the work area.
