Job summary

Virginia Commonwealth University Health is seeking a Physician Assistant to provide clinical and patient care across the continuum. You will assess health status, perform exams, order tests, provide direct patient care, assist with procedures, prescribe meds where allowed and coordinate care with the team.

You will work with attending physicians, supervise staff as assigned, document in medical records, participate in ethics discussions and continuing education.

Qualifications

• Graduate of an accredited Physician Assistant Program.
• Successful completion of the Physician Assistant National Certifying Exam (PANCE).
• Current PA-C certification and state licensure where required.
• CPR/BLS certification; ACLS where needed depending on assignment.
• Experience with the population served and collaboration in a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Assess health status and provide direct patient care across the continuum of services.
• Perform physical examinations, order or perform diagnostic tests, and coordinate care.
• Assist with surgical procedures and therapeutic interventions; prescribe medication where permitted.
• Document in the medical record and coordinate care with primary and specialty services.
• Participate in ethics discussions, professional development and teaching activities.
• Supervise/coordinate activities of patient care and support staff as assigned.
