Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, sociology, criminology, or related field.
• Four years of probation/parole experience with at least 12 months at Deputy Probation Officer III level.
• Possession of a valid California driver's license.
• Certification to meet Penal Code §832; CPR/First Aid; Basic Probation course; ongoing trainings.

Responsibilities

• Plans, assigns, supervises and evaluates the work of staff.
• Reviews case histories and approves referrals.
• Trains new officers in court procedures and interviewing techniques.
• Interprets and explains department policies to staff.
• Attends court sessions to observe performance and ensure orders are carried out.
• Identifies staffing and budget needs; may prepare budget requests.
• Develops recommendations for policy formation and revisions; participates in grant activities.
