Job summary

Missouri Department of Corrections is seeking qualified applicants for roles supporting offender management and community safety. The position involves field visits, data collection, counseling, and coordination with public agencies to plan educational and social adjustment programs for offenders.

The role requires substantial experience in corrections or related fields and a valid driver’s license. Uniforms are provided where required and the department offers a robust benefits package

Qualifications

• Four or more years of experience as a Probation & Parole Assistant, Correctional Officer, or Office Support Assistant within the Missouri Department of Corrections.
• OR Four or more years of vocational or paraprofessional experience in social services, probation and parole, corrections casework/custody, law enforcement, guidance/counseling, mental health, health or related fields; and possession of a valid vehicle operator’s license.

Responsibilities

• Investigates offender's home/work/social environments for circuit courts and Parole Board; collects/verifies/evaluates data; incorporates into reports and records; assesses needs/risk levels to determine supervision strategies.
• Contacts offenders in their homes, workplaces or confinement and counsels them regarding personal/adjustment problems; attends court to receive assignments and reports.
• Assists in vocational/educational/social adjustment planning for assigned offenders; cooperates with public/private agencies and law enforcement; investigates violations; takes action including warrants when needed.
• Prepares statistical reports; administers breathalyzer/urinalysis testing; assists in investigations and research; serves on committees; performance reviews vary with experience.
